Hi, Has anyone opted for one wedding ring instead of an engagement ring and a wedding ring? I like the idea of one (possibly bigger) ring than 2. I''m thinking of designing my own and was curious if other folks have opted for this as well. If so, please share. And, thanks a bunch!!

yep, really just wanted one ring, wide band and blinging, or unique shaped (not wide) I ended up with a unique shaped ring, but for some reason, my inspiration didn''t turn out to be what I had custom and it wasn''t as comfortable as the one I tried on at the mall, so it ended up on my RHR, now I''m back to the wedding ring and e-ring set, anyhow (which will undergo another makeover to include gemstones too). So can''t wait to see what you come up with.

I know a woman who I used to work with who got a 5 ct eternity ring instead of a wedding band and e-ring... and trust me that turned some heads!

I wear my e-ring solo about 99% of the time. It''s an antique-style setting and a band will not sit flush, but even before this reset, I didn''t like the feel of 2 rings. Funny thing is, I''ll wear a thin stacking band on my RH middle finger, and it doesn''t bother me at all.

I think you should wear what you''re comfortable with!

I met a Tacori rep who wanted an engagement ring, but a close friend got engaged at the same time and got the exact Tacori ring that she wanted. So she
opted for a 5-6 carat eternity ring by Tacori instead. It was gorgeous! Funny thing, she said the friend ended up braking up the engagement later. Her ring was
beautiful!

My set I was married in was a solitaire pear with a wrap (soldered). My upgrade is a cushion on a wide band (3 rows) of pave diamonds (.77ct cushion and the band is 6.5mm I think). I have big hands and the wide band suits me. When I want extra bling, I will add diamond bands with it, but the convenience and comfort of the wide band is great. I don''t wear my ring all the time. If I wore it all day, I''d want the option of just wearing a band that wouldn''t be in the way.

Two of my closest girlfriends just did this. Both were engaged within weeks of one another but picked out their rings without knowledge of the other''s ideas.

One is a very wide, yellow gold band with a beautiful oval ruby. The band looks like a Roman Empire-esque wreath.

The other is a rose gold bezel and diamond eternity band, but looks like bubbles almost. Can''t describe it, here''s the link:

The funny thing is that both of their rings were made by the same designer, but purchased on opposite coasts! Both plan to wear their statement e-rings as wedding bands.

I have both, but unless I custom a wedding band, nothing will fit flush with my e-ring, which I wear a lot on its own.

Do what you feel comfortable with. Also, you can buy a weddingband later, like for a 5 year anniversary if you decide that you really want one.

Speaking of 5 ct eternity bands, do y''all know if anyone on PS has one? I''d love to see a picture of that. I think it would be so elegant.

Thanks a bunch for all your responses. I''d love to see some more examples of such rings. And, I agree... I''d LOVE to see a picture of a 5ct eternity ring. Thank you!

I wear a 3-stone ring and don''t intend to wear a band with it. I also have several friends who wear only 1 ring. One is a RB solitaire and has been married for over 10 yrs, one is more antique with RB and side stones and married 2 yrs, and one that''s just a 3-row pave band and married last year. So, different styles and different times but all have opted for 1 ring.

We were never formally engaged, we just got married, so I would have felt silly getting a traditional ''engagement ring'' after the fact, and I''ve never liked ''tall'' rings. So I have an antique 5 stone band which is my wedding ring, but that is the only ring I wear on my left hand.

My original engagement ring was a pear shape diamond set in a plain solitaire. The bottom of the band eventually wore thin thanks to a jeweler soldering a wrap to it and doing a crooked job, resulting in a few attempts. So I eventually had my diamond mounted onto my 4mm wedding band and voila! One ring, and I am very happy with it

I wear my custom 25th anniversary upgrade ring solo as a combined wedding/e-ring. No one doubts that I am married.

Center stone is 1.5 ct F VS2 with graduated yellow to white channel set diamond sidestones, all set in platinum.

I wear a 3 stone without a wedding band. I wore it with a 2.5 mm band for awhile and I was going to buy a 1 mm band, but in the end decided what I was looking for was a band that looked like nothing so why wear one?? I love the 3 stone on its own. I used to wear a solitaire with a band but when I got my upgrade I decided that the 3 stone ring is enough to stand alone.

I know a few people who have opted for only 1 ring- there''s no rule that says you must wear 2! Wear whatever makes you happy.

I''m not engaged yet but am planning to do this - either a five-stone ring or a full eternity diamond band. I don''t like the feel of wearing two rings. A lot of women I know don''t wear their engagement rings every day for this reason and just wear a plain metal band most of the time, which I think is a bit of a shame considering all the money that went into the engagement ring - which sways me towards one pretty ring that I''ll wear constantly.

Try some on and see if you like the look!

I think it is a fine idea. Sometimes I wish I''d gone that route. I wanted to keep my rings seperate but they started to beat each other up pretty bad right away so I had them put together.

That''s how I wear mine - 2.05 radiant center and 1.05 round/baguette setting. It''s my 4th ring - the only time I wore a band separate was my original wedding ring - a pear solitare with 2mm band on either side. Eventually that got soldered together.
