Please excuse just ONE MORE group of pics of our new Mark Morrell ring. Last set of pics were pics he took. These are pics I took, to try and bring out the colors.

. Taken with a Nikon CoolPic 4550, no macro lens. The light was sunlight through the window in the office where I work.

The only photshopping was bringing three pictures into 1 for posting purposes!

plus, do you think my lady would EVER let me survive if she thought I photoshopped ANYTHING onto her ring

Nice job candide. You managed to pick up the more rare dispersion of red & green too. Blue & yellow being the most common dispersed colors.

Thanks Rhino!

Question: Certain parts of the diamond seemed to "like" to disperse a given colorm no matter how I spun the ring with relation to the light source. Was this a coincidence, or an actual optical phenomenon I was seeing?

Nice Photos Candide...

Hey Candide,

Here's an interesting read for you if you have time..It is a link that will take you to a article published by the GIA that I think will help answer alot of your questions...

Answer is complicated, but basically it is the angle at which the rays are exiting the diamond, from what angle you are viewing the diamond, and the light source or lighting environment...Red Rays are the hardest to capture because it is has the longest ray path of all the spectral colors..

Enjoy /idealbb/images/smilies/wavey.gif Just click on the link below....

... regarding dispersion and fire in polished diamonds is that flashes of color will
only be observed if the viewer’s eye is in the path of the colored light beam ...

Wow! You took some great pics! I was sure it was a fireball... And your pics prove that!
