A thin platinum bezel would be ideal for a J stone! It''ll keep it bright and white looking.
Not sure I agree with this, Garry.Date: 11/15/2007 2:35:56 AM

Thick yellow will work better, the J can look like H/I in the type of better lighting that makes the J look like K.
Platinum will highlight the color difference via contrast; you will nearly always see the color is more yellow than the white metal
I hate it when I come back see I missed a critical piece of information in my post.Date: 11/15/2007 7:58:50 AM

Garry,
I have to disagree with you for well cut stones under 1 carat. I have a 0.88 J OEC that measures close to 6.0 mm set in a platinum bezel and it looks as white as my 0.43 ct H ideal cut RB which is also set in a bezel. I have no personal experience with J stones larger than 1 carat in bezels though, so I cannot comment on that.
Garry! You need to march your little Aussie butt over here and see in person some of our J stones set in platinum!Date: 11/15/2007 2:35:56 AM

You can look on Faye Cullen''s website and see all kinds of low colored (not that j is really low color-but you know what I mean) stones set in platinum. Granted you are looking at a computer image not IRL. Maybe it could give you a bit of perspective. I doubt those stones are that well cut, though--so they may show more color that a well-cut j..... www.faycullen.com
