OMC Ring To Keep or Not to Keep… thoughts?

Hi all

This stone is very difficult to capture, however hopefully someone can give me some feedback. It’s approximately 0.65 ct, not given a colour or clarity grade. I can’t see any inclusions but for one feather which is well hidden. I’ll try and get a photo of it tomorrow.

Is this an OMC? The sparkle is more pinafore than broad flashes I would say, so not sure how I feel about it.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thank you.

It almost seems like it has a bow tie?

I would definitely call that an old mine. Great puffy crown! Do you have a return period? Maybe wear it for a day or two to see if its performance & personality grows on you?

Looks like an OMC - love that crown!

Yep looks like an old mine cut. Looks like a Maltese Cross. The sparkle you see is likely kozibe. It's a very rustic cut that wouldn't have the broad flashes.

If you got it for a good price, I'd keep it!

Thanks all. The setting reflects light like a halo so it looks a lot bigger than it really is. Really quite clever design!

What would you consider a good price to be?

Has returns, I just wear international shipping costs. Yes I’ll go for a walk tomorrow and see how it feels :)

I would estimate under $1500 USD is a good price and under $1200 USD a great price and under $1000 is a deal lol.

If you have calipers I would check the measurements to see if you feel like it's actually over 0.5ct. is the setting gold or platinum?

Also if you do in fact love the ring, factor in what it costs to size (which it doesn't require) could easily be another $120 AUD so it might be a great price for you.

It’s very dirty so soak it in hot water with dish soap then scrub with a baby toothbrush. That will likely improve light play a lot.

I love the shape and faceting as well as the crown, the culet and the Maltese cross mentioned above. The color also looks quite light. I like how the setting is designed to make the diamond look bigger, serving as a visual extension of the stone. I like it a lot.
