Yay! I'm in. I have posted a couple of threads that all apparently needed approval but this one is posting.

Hi all! I am not a diamond connoisseur so I am coming to you.. the experts ✨

I found this stone as a loose stone on Fiorese's website. I like chunkier ovals (really love an ovalish cushion!), and this had the specs I was hoping for of 10x8. I am especially drawn to antique cuts, specifically an OMC diamond.

I ordered this in the beginning of January and it won't get to me until next month sometime. And the longer I have to think on it the more I'm wondering if it's even a good stone. The more I look at it I'm just not sure. Does the center seem dead? Does it seem too gray, too pink? Because it was a loose stone and not a custom cut I will be able to return it so I might just wait and get it in person But if I could have some better trained eyes take a look and give their thoughts I would really appreciate it.

I know this isn't a PS preferred vendor, I heard of them on Reddit which led me to find that loose diamond. My budget is $6000, I don't want anything larger than 10 x 8, but nothing much smaller than that either based on my wider, shorter size 6.5 fingers. I really love elongation but not rectangular, more oval shape or rounded but not round. Something with soft curves and decent finger coverage but nothing too giant because it is my first diamond.

My husband and I got married when he was a student in naval flight school so I have only ever had stacked bands. Now that we have three boys out of the baby stage and just celebrated our 10 year anniversary, I would really like to get a super special diamonds. Thank you for reading this and for any help you can provide!

(I i'm afraid to add the link to videos because every time I do my post gets flagged. How should I add a video?)

It won't let me post the Imgur link without flagging for approval :'(

Hello and welcome!! $6000 is a very generous budget for a lab diamond and I'm sure we could help you find a good one. I bought my dad a lab modern round from Fiorese and it was pretty outstanding and cheap lol. Can you upload the video to YouTube?

Thank you so very much! I have pored over the threads here and you are always so helpful in every single one of them so I appreciate your insight.

I added it to YT but when I replied to you it said that it is awaiting moderator approval and not visible to normal visitors :cry2:

My YT channel username is: @krystingeerdes5024 so if you type the YT url and then add that after it should come up. Maybe this is how I bypass. I'm assuming I have restrictions on what I can post since I'm a "rough rock"? =)2

Hi! Were you able to look at the videos by chance? I can't discern if what I'm seeing is considered darkness or just part of the regular facet pattern, or if it really is just dull the whole way through the center. When they show it outside with tweezers it doesn't appear to be that way but on hand it just seems like the whole middle is one particular shade different than the rest. I'm not sure if this is indicative of what we usually see with this type of cut or if it's something to be concerned of so I thought I would bring it to this trusty board!

ETA: the videos I posted are the only ones that I have of the stone, there are five of them on my YouTube.

Also I am sorry for the roundabout way of having to post the videos, every time I try and post my links to YouTube or IMGUR, it gets flagged for moderator approval and in my experience I haven't received any of that approval in the past so Thank you for being patient with me!

I have issues loading the videos but from the few seconds I've seen they're not very well cut. Is your preference for an old cut oval?

Thank you for looking for me! That's what I was thinking as well I just didn't know if I was too much in my head. It didn't seem to have the sparkle and brilliance that I would like. I am drawn to more elongated antique cuts, I do prefer ovals and like some cushions but only if they are more softer edges almost like an oval. I'm very open with the diamond otherwise. I found an oval l-like cushion that has a pinhole culet, no it's not classified as an old man cut on the IGA it's classified as a cushion modified brilliant. I like that it's chunky, I really like chunky ratios with elongation. The table is small at 50% and the crown pavilion is 18%, obviously not the tiniest table or largest crown but a lot better proportions than I've seen otherwise. It is a little bit shallow and it's death. I ordered it to get a look at it in real life but I'll attach the link here. As you can see I'm kind of all over the place, I know what I like and I'm ready buy, multiple if I have to compare them in person. Here's the link for the cushion, it's not a true old mine I know it doesn't have huge chunky cuts but I also don't hate it?

** this is where I tried to insert the link but it flagged my post for approval** it's on the Adiamor website, D-65403057.. sorry this is such a PITA.

I have been in touch with Distinctive Gem though I'm not sure if their shapes are exactly in line with what I'm liking, they're elongated cushions are a little more squared off or rectangular than my preference. I also have called and spoke with Joe at Joseph Schubach jewelers, I do love his radiance line, especially the antique roval and the Royal OMC. But when I spoke with him he said that the roval is essentially a slightly stretched oec at 1.2 ratio whereas online indicates 1.25 so I'll have to double triple check that. I like that ratio either way but I know he doesn't have a lot of them in stock for me to be able to get video comparisons of side-by-side with one another.

The only person I’ve seen selling really great OMCs consistently is Alex Park.

That was my concern as well. It's a spread cut which I don't mind spready but I have never seen a diamond that shallow!

I guess anything is possible but I’d say it’s extremely improbable this will be an attractive stone. Sorry!

I actually ordered a 4.5ct OMC from Fiorese on December 28. I told them I wanted it similar to this one (video attached below)
I have since bought a true antique OMC diamond so I will be selling it when it comes... LOL

I was not able to find your video on youtube, but i am wondering if this is the same video? I still haven't received a video of my actual lab diamond, she said they're behind due to the holiday, but this was the sample she sent me

@ladygert if you go to the thread- Loosegrown has gotten pretty good for OEC and inexpensive! Beginning with post 46, you will see pictures of an OMC I bought like 2 weeks ago. I am buying a natural OMC so this one will not be needed by me any longer. I will be listing it tonight or for sure tomorrow. It might be too big for you, but it is beautiful!!!! Just enough wonkiness to look like an actual antique OMC. Just wanted to throw that out there incase you might be interested! Good luck with your search!

OMG, your OMC is GORGEOUS!! Definitely list it, someone will be SUPER lucky to grab it!! If you had listed it sooner I am pretty sure I would have bought it instead of the earth mined!!

I think it's funny we all scrapped our original lab OMC plans and bought true antique earth mined... :lol-2: I still LOVE labs, but i like having both!

OH it is beyond lovely!! I actually had reached out to SCF about a custom cut of one of these a couple weeks ago when a Redditor sent me her way. I love them! I just wasn't sure how they were quality-wise because her pictures are super dark and grey so it made me pause. Thank you for sending me to your post though because your photos reaffirmed how beautiful they are! I would love to see the natural OMC you're getting when you do receive it! Are you listing your SCF OMC on PS? It might be a *smidge* too big. I cut out a rough shape of it and think I do want to stay on the smaller side.. but never say never  I'll keep my eye out for your post!

Don't I know it!! I follow his page religiously and missed a beautiful 3 ct OMC he posted last week! UGH.

Well I told them 4.5-4.75ct and it seems they're charging me $400/ct?? I think?? LOL. I left a deposit pending the size of the stone after cut.

She told me if i dont like it I dont have to take it, but I am not too confident they're going to refund me. Mentally I am assuming I will have to take delivery and then I will sell it (ONLY because i bought the earth mined) and yes, i gave them dimensions i wanted but again, who knows what i will actually get.... it's always a risk!

"Too big" today is perfect after about 3 days of wearing it... just sayin' :lol-2:

@ladygert thank you, it is beautiful! I have a twinge about selling it because it is just that good! Truly I don't need two or I would! SCF has some good finds, this being one of them! I do love it! I am not the best photographer, but I think they turned out pretty good! Not what I usually get to say, my photography skills must finally be coming along!

I will love showing it off once I get it. I'm still paying for it and then it's going to Southwest Diamond Cutters to have the girdle cleaned up by Ashley. Then off to David Klass to be set. So it will be a bit before I have it.

Yes, I just got home so it will be tomorrow before I list it on PS and Loupetroop. I might want to take a few more pictures in daylight.

Oh I understand about too big. I recently sold a beautiful OEC that Ashley did a recut on. It was 4.01ct. It looked so Big on me! I really think it's because it is round. The one from SCF being an OMC, it didn't look too big at all. You will hear it here more than once, DSS is real! I do appreciate you needing to feel comfortable though! LOL absolutely not! Never say never is so true!

My post will be up tomorrow! Thank you for looking and for the compliments. We always feel good when someone thinks what we choose is beautiful too! Thanks!

I still love the labs too! I would be lying if I said I don't have a twinge of - what am I doing!!! It's a difficult place to be in when you buy so many things without seeing them in person. So I hope my eye and my gut are right!

Both is the best of both worlds most definitely!!!!

I wish you lot's of luck with your search and hope you find the diamond of your dreams!!!
