Nazi Diamond loot is poorly covered in the
reports of German Loot - 1935 to 1945. Probably 400 kilograms of diamonds were taken over that period. Knowing that sales prices depend on quality/cut/mass/ etc. I have made the assumpetion that the 'average' stone was 0.5 c -modern cut - average quality. Knowing the range of selling prices would be wide, I want to ESTIMATE the value of 400 Kg of diamonds - with the assumptions given.I am writing a novel about Nazi loot - 1945
US soldier finds 500+ diamonds outside
concentration camp. I also need to know the price he might get for selling a .84 caret stone, assuming average quality and modern cut. My guess is about $ 250 US, in 1946.
What might be a reasonable wholesale price in 1946, 1955, 1980, & 2000?
Could he get a better price for offering
5 or 10 stones at a time?
Story follows the diamonds and their 'selling prices' over the years.

The story ends with our 'thief' when he retrievies 100 kg of stones and returns them to the Jewish leaders trying to establish the new State of Israel - 1948.
Any help would be appreciated.
