Blue Nile keeps some diamonds in inventory and has the right to exclusive listing of others by contract with various suppliers. Some diamonds do wander around between dealers for quite some time before being purchased for inventory, we just purchased a Flanders Brilliant Cut Diamond which was graded by the HRD in Belgium in September of 2000 but was not picked up by the U.S. selling office for Flanders until earlier this year... We solved our concern regarding the date of the lab report by having FDC send the diamond through one of the U.S. laboratories for 'verification' to confirm that the characteristics of the diamond had not changed... You might consider having Blue Nile send the diamond back through the GIA for 'verification' and an update of the lab report. The only reason we didn't send the F.B.C.D. back through the HRD is because we didn't want to hassle with international shipping and the cost involved with doing so when we could handle the verification stateside...
I will second the motion for having the stone
re-evaluated. Possibly by a diamond expert like the
Rock Doc, Dave Atlas or Richard Sherwood just
for extra reassurance...
