Okay Ladies and Gents,

I need some help.

I am about to make a major purchase of diamonds
and need to know if there is a market for
them after being cut.

It is quite a large amount of them and
of good quality too.

They range from FL - VVS2, D-I, 3- 4 carat in weight,
and other information later.

What are the best cuts for resale right
wavey.gif

now, and will there be a market for it as
well?

Let me know your thoughts.....

Rounds will always be the safest resale.
Avioid high clarity - H-F VS2 is probably the most liquid, in over sizes-say 2.5-2.99ct etc
But these are very hard to find in well cut stones.

Given that cut grading is a battle ground at present - you should buy for what the market wants latter - not now.
Tolkowsky proportions will loose their current premium in years to come.

"Tolkowsky proportions will lose their current premium..."

???

You mean to tell me you think that 34.5/40.8 crown pavilion combo's with smaller tables will decrease in demand over the years? If I were cutting I woudln't buy into that advice. Gary, what in the world leads you to say that? I realize as well as you do that there are many combo's that *work* but I don't think I would be put on record to say they will *lose* their premium and give this advice to someone interested in cutting rough.

My advice would be to do the exact opposite. Right now the highest demand is for cherry proportions within the "0" range. 34.5/40.8 happens to be a very cherry combo (when combined with top notch optical symmetry).

Remember what sort of ladies Mr Rubin's painted Rhino?

Consider it this way - the guy wants to "invest" in a diamond. (foolish I know because a woman will get it and keep it forever - ya know diamonds are forever!!!).

Now Tolkowsky may not go down in price - but relatively speaking if some others go up - then the relative effect is the same - but that way of thinking may make you happier Rhino?
