Now the hard stuff! I need a diamond to go with the ring!!

My budget for the diamond is around $4000 Can you PS''ers help me out? I need to find a nice diamond that my girl will love.

here is what I am looking for:

Cut: I would like Ideal but probably cant afford it so Excellent to Very good

Carat: between .85 & 1.0

Color : in the near colorless range H is probably the lowest I will go.

Clarity: SI1 or SI2 if its eye clean

I have been looking in the expert selection on the WF website and they have not added any diamonds in my range for a LONG time. Can you please post some suggestions?

Thanks

great choice!

you can use the ''pricescope your diamond'' search tool at the top of the page. be sure to select ''in house'' or ''cut quality search'' you should come up with a good selection in your range.

I love that setting, too. What I like about a 4 prong is that it shows more of the diamond, from all angles.
Gotta enjoy the rock!

Not a diamond expert... so just posting things that look good at a minimum level.

It's a little higher than your budget... but doesn't WF give a PS 10% discount????

You could get something bigger with a lower clarity and color-- but this is the nicest cut I found for around your price range. It's a little deep, though I think... and the girdle could be a problem (again, not an expert... just what occurs to me).

Yeah, okay... nevermind that one....

Here are a couple though:

Gypsy, no offense meant, but that would be a horrible choice.

That's ok, I know you're not a round girl.

ROFLMAO. I just looked at this thread and saw what the numbers are supposed to be and was HORRIFIED.

Let me know if I''ve redeemed myself with ANY of the ones from James Allen above.

Thanks for the relpies!

Ok I found a diamond that I think I like, but I have a question for you guys. Can an IDEAL cut diamond have a 3.5 score on the HCA??? Am i doing something wrong here? here is the AGS cert. they emailed me.

That''s a Blue Nile stone, isn''t it?

I think that question deserves its own thread.

With my very limited knowledge, I think that might be called a "steep-deep" stone. I think you want to find a stone that is no more than 62% in depth and with a crown angle from 34-35 degrees.

The diamond is from James Allen website not from BN...Going back to my question, if the AGS cert says its a Ideal cut stone can its still score poor in the HCA?

Well, I got a 3.5 on the HCA and the x did not fall in AGS0. I do not see a date on this cert, but my understanding is that the parameters have changed for AGS0, so possibly this stone was graded under the old parameters and would no longer be considered AGS0. Deep stones usually face up smaller in diameter because the weight is in the depth. So I personally wouldn''t consider a stone with thse measurements.

Isn''t the date of the report usually right in that empty white spot? Almost looks like something is covering it up. Maybe I''m just imagining things.

Hi Jesse, Great choice in setting! I''ve been in two jewelers where they asked me if my Whiteflash shared prong was that A. Jaffe ring. The ring will be beautiful!

Interesting point! The date is definitely covered up.

No, it''s definitely a new report.
