Ok, so I have decided on a cushion

Okay, I have decided on a cushion cut. My main concern is sparkle sparkle sparkle and I''m a little vain, size! However; my budget is only 3-4K for the stone would like around 1 carat more on the rectangular side, any suggestions? Also, I was thinking a more basic setting maybe micro-pave on the setting to save on cost and be able to put more into the diamond. Will this affect the sparkle, does a diamond look better in a simple setting or one with more diamonds on the side? Thanks for any input!

Oooooh, I love well cut cushions! I tried on a beautiful cushion with a micropave halo which made the stone look even bigger so that is where you may want to end up eventually. The whole thing sparkled like crazy. I would put the entire amount into the stone, do a very simple setting, then upgrade the setting later.

Ditto! I would also contact Mark at www.engagementringsdirect.com as I mentioned before, give him your budget and see what he can come up with! I too would set simply with most of the budget towards the diamond, then later you can go for a blingier setting.
