OK, it's an I1, but but the shape!

OK, so I know this won't be many people's cup of tea, but I"m seriously thinking of getting this antique cushion diamond.
Yes, yes, it has easily eye visible inclusions. But I just LOVE the shape of it and I have yet to see it in another diamond, and I"m struggling to figure out if I can sacrifice the clarity for the uniqueness of the cut. The price is also very fair (on sale) and reflective of the inclusions, so not only could I buy the stone but I could probably afford to set it quickly too. Arg!

Anybody know of anything comparable? This is a 1.03 ct K color antique cushion.

Also, what questions would you ask knowing it's an I1?

Ok clarity sensitive people, avert your eyes! Lol
I did ask the vendor if any of the inclusions breached the surface or compromised the integrity of the rock.

But man, I can't stop thinking of how pretty this diamond would look in one of Sally's iolani settings...drool.

It's so pretty!! The clarity wouldn't bother me, especially if it was available at a great price. I love the idea of putting it in that setting!

Every particular in nature, a leaf, a drop, a crystal, a moment of time is related to the whole, and partakes of the perfection of the whole.

It's beautiful. If you've fallen in love I would go for it.

Haha you guys are such enablers!
I think I'm more tolerant of inclusions because 1. This won't be my ering. and 2. I mostly do colored stones and having some eye visible inclusions that aren't noticeable/distracting from 6 inches away is sort of status quo for a lot of gems where color is king.

I think the price is pretty good, I can't imagine getting a 1ct K diamond for 1.6k anywhere else, much less an antique cushion..

I say go for it as long as your comfortable with it.

As long as the inclusions don't get in the way of the sparkle and there are no durability issues I would buy it!

Inclusions just have never bothered me (well, except for feathers). If the inclusions don't pose any durability issues and it makes your heart sing, go for it!

My marquise has eye visible inclusions.

I think you just have to make the determination if you love it or not. If you love it that you love it, inclusions and all.

+1!!! :appl:

I'm not picky on inclusions either and I think like you mentioned, your primary focus with CS and higher tolerance for inclusions is helpful! I think that is a very unique shape and can't wait to see how it looks set. Please get it!!!

Sounds like you love it inclusions and all! Just because a stone has an eye visible
inclusion doesn't mean it cant be beautiful and unique. That setting would be
perfect for it!

If it makes your heart sing, that's what counts.

Think of it this way - the color and clarity grades are tools to help ensure that those who don't know what they're doing don't get taken to the cleaners when they're buying a diamond. You are hardly in that class - you're going into this with your eyes wide open.

In other words - go forth boldly!

Inclusions aren't the worst thing in the world. IMHO

My former OMC looked like salt and pepper under a loupe but it sparkled like crazy and I loved it.

As long as the price reflects that it's an I1, go for it.

The shape is SUPER awesome... I love it and the setting you've picked is lovely..

I think it sounds like a match made in Heaven!

L♥ve the shape.

do it do it do it! :appl:

I love the shape of the stone, too!

But you need to know what the inclusions are. A huge feather that might result in a crack would not be acceptable to me. But a carbon spot off to the side might be in a special stone like this.

There appears to be a sizeable surface reaching feather on a crown facet that extends to the girdle. I would ask if it is safe for bezeling. I personally have no issues with inclusions, as long as it's safe for the setting you want to use.

Very pretty and what a buy! If it's on hold, would love to know where you found it.

It'd from jewels by Erica grace. It's been listed awhile and then went on sale over the holidays. I've heard only good things about them.
I asked if the inclusion would be a setting/ durability risk, as long as it's not then I'm ordering it!

I'm eagerly waiting for an answer to that question myself. Although how accurately can you really predict that? :/

I keep checking this thread to see if you've decided to buy the stone. LOL

I'm trying to! Lol

Sigh. Feather reaches the surface so no go. :/

:(sad

I'm very sorry but glad you were dealing with an honest vendor who told you the truth. I think the price reflects that because it would be higher if that were not the case.

Sorry that stone didn't work out for you, the shape was so unique...I loved it too! :wink2:
