I'm counting down the days....

Pretty soon, I will have to send my ring back to Tacori.
I was told by my jewler that I had to send my engagement ring back to Tacori so that they can make my wedding band. So now I have to fly a literally priceless (center stone is my grandmother's) ring across the country from Maryland to California.
So I thought, what's the harm in just buying the band without sending the ring? Is it really going to be THAT big of a deal? Yes, I know. Wearing a WB and your ER together is not good for your prongs. I already read all that, Ive just decided to be in denial about it. ;)
But see, here's the thing. My diamond was set by the local jeweler from which we bought the setting through. They've been in business for almost 100 years and they are the premier jewler in my rural area and supposedly have all this experience blah blah blah. But, I have HATED the way they left the prongs since day 1. It looks.. unfinished. I know my grandmother's ring doesnt have the greatest dimensions, I know that there is actually a crack (eek) in it. My fiance told me something about how the jeweler wasnt even sure at first that it would be suitable for reset into my Tacori setting. So I just brushed it off at first as just the way it had to be to secure my diamond in my setting, but now Im not so sure. The jewler insisted that he could fix it, but Im thinking maybe I should just send it to Tacori 'as is' and have them take a look at it, and reset it while they make my wedding band.
Here are some pictures to illustrate my point:
(BTW- Ring is the Tacori HT2326)

and HERE is what it is supposed to look like.. (Thanks to Signal4, who's post I drooled over for a long time before recieving my own)

So...
1) Should I fix the prongs?
2) Should I risk shipping my ring?
3) Does anybody out there have this set and can post a picture? Im dying to see them together, but sadly Google has failed me. :errrr:

I would ship the ring and have it done right. Good luck to you!

I would definitely have the prongs redone. Just be sure you have the ring insured in case anything should happen to the stone during resetting.

Ditto! I think a few weeks' wait will be worth it to have your prongs set properly AND your wedding band made to fit your ering.
