Great pictures everyone, I would love to look out my window and see a moose! That is so cool!
We are under a lake effect snow advisory until Tuesday afternoon at 4pm, so maybe I will have some pretty pictures to share!

Great photos! Here is one from the other morning. Not a pretty site - just my patio.

WOW Marcy, that is gorgeous. It is still 80 here, but it does cool down in the late after noon. We are still in shorts and t-shirts. I am ready for jeans and sweaters!!!! I love sweaters and my warm socks and boots (if I ever get the chance to wear them.

Thanks Linda. I love sweaters too. Enjoy the 80''s for me. I won''t be seeing that again for at least 6 months.

We are expecting snow all week Lorelei. I will have months and months of snow pics for you

Here''s one from last year. The eyes and mouth were chocolate chips.

Beautiful picture iluv. What state do you live in?

Thanks Linda! I''m in NY in one of those cities that they show often on CNN buried under several feet of snow

It''s fun at first but by May, it is often still snowing, and we are very ready for spring! Enjoy your lovely weather! The 80''s sound delightful!

Thanks, Linda! It is a really beautiful area! I always take pictures of the barn/silo/yard rather than the house because they look so quaint and because the house is a work in process and depending on what we're doing to it (putting in new windows, etc.) sometime it doesn't look so pretty!

Lorelei,

Just wanted to post and say we're getting our first "official snow" tonight. It has actually covered the ground and it's still coming down..and, I see snow forecasted for the entire week. LOTS OF PICTURES coming soon... :) I'd have more to show from previous years, but my PC was reformatted and we haven't put the pictures back on yet. FI has them all on his tiny external hard drive and getting that from him is like pulling teeth. LOL!!

I live in NY, too...very, very north and very, very west.
2.gif
I'm actually about 15-20 (give or take) min from the Canadian border. Anyway, saying that because it's really funny how people who don't get snow like it so much...and I'll admit, even when there is NO CHANCE there will be snow (ie in the summer months), I sometimes think of snow and the "IDEA OF IT" sounds wonderful...but like someone else posted on here, living with it from November through May - you get SO tired of it!! It's a welcome change when spring arrives and then summer and you can just slip your feet into sandals, fly out the door, start your car and drive away! In the winter, you have to make sure you have socks on (I keep forgetting that even still!! My mind is still focused on sandals! LOL), put on your scarf, your coat, button up, get on the gloves and maybe a hat, then go outside, brush/scrape off the snow and/or ice, then drive away...and that's if you've started your car before!! Otherwise, after you brush off the car, you turn on the car, hit the defroster and just WAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIT forever til you can see, THEN you can drive away.
14.gif
UUUUUGH!!! HATE IT!!!
7.gif
7.gif
PLUS, I hate how it gets dark at like 5pm!
39.gif

My friend and I call it "swearing" if one of us mentions 'the s-word' (snow). LOL. I sooo can't wait to move south!!! I'm just waiting until after the wedding and the timing is right.
36.gif
You can't even IMAGINE how jealous I am of all you folks who have 70-80 degree weather!! Heck! I'd even take 40s & 50s!!! Right now, it's 27F degrees out...AND THAT IS WARM.
29.gif

Thanks for letting me vent...
9.gif
LOL

Okay, so I was downstairs and decided to take a few photos. :) Nothing great, actually, especially because it's at night and I was just sticking my hand with the camera out the door...LOL!! 27 degrees doesn't SOUND that bad, but when you're actually standing in your PJs in it, it's FREEZING!!
23.gif
LOL... So anyway...here they are! :) Hope you can appreciate them ('cause someone has to appreciate this white stuff!!). :)

Here is Death Valley at Clemson University from our big snow last year. School wasn''t even cancelled but we were up all night playing in it!

This is from that same snow... if you look closely my friend on the right has been tripped by Brock's (the dog) leash and is in the process of falling down.

ETA wow that was super small. will make it bigger. H/O

hope this is better

Ok, this is my pathetic attempt at a snow man. In my defense we didn't know it was going to snow so all I had was a sweatshirt. My hands were COLD! But I still think he's cute.

Here he is.

And this is a shot of the refection pond in the middle of campus. Ok I''ll stop cluttering up the thread with my pics now!

reflectionwo3ur5.jpg

And I just had to repost a closer up view of the snow in the first picture I posted because it''s lovely. Looks like diamonds in the snow!!

Also, found this photo and it's LOVELY. I can't take any credit for it, though, but it reminds me a lot of your icon Lorelei! :)

Those big lights are my absolute FAVORITE...I think because they remind me of when I was little. :) :)

And THESE photos are from 2006...what everyone now refers to as "The October Storm." It began in the wee hours of Friday, October 13 and continued all that day and into the next night. It shut down our airport and LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of people were without electricity (and heat)..and I was one of them.
7.gif
UGH!! Mine finally got fixed that Tuesday, so I was without electricity for 4 days, while some people were much longer
7.gif
THIS is what you NEVER want to see when you look out your window..LOL.

And I promise not to show you anything like that ever again. LOL

This is a picture from last year. It snowed like 18" one night (mn)
I LOVED the branches... they pile high with snow.. which doesn''t last long before it falls off.

Thank you so much starting this thread Lorelei, I too live in the UK, in the East Midlands and we virtually never get snow these days. I get very excited at the start of each Winter thinking this might be the year. These photos are all amazing and bring back happy memories of the 18 months I lived in MI and got a proper Winter - total bliss
