we, the public, have decided that any choices a public figure makes is how we''re going to judge him/her in everything what s/he does. I don''t see the connection between being a great golfer and cheating on your wife. yes, it''s an extremely immoral thing that he''s done and I feel pity for his poor wife, but that wouldn''t stop me from appreciating him as a professional athlete.

I don''t know... I mean how would we all like it if we were continually judged about a wrong decision we once made which had nothing to do with our careers?

then again, if you were a pedophile I would not support any of your actions no matter how good you were at your job, so I guess people feel this way to varying degrees.

perry: I think your prediction is accurate. He will take a short break, his marriage will appear to have held together. He will lose some skittish sposnors but not the big ones. His return will be hyped like no other golf event. If he wins or does reasonable, he''s bought himself a 2nd chance. If he starts losing, it''s over. I believe his wife will eventually leave him, but the hard negotiating tactics (and guilt trip over children) she''s hearing now is probably working.

HVVS: count me in with those aghast at yoru post. It''s (almost 2010), to me being of mixed race is an advantage in today''s world. Obama, Halle Berry, Mariah Carey, Keanu Reeves, Dean Cain..I could go on and on and on. And even if it wasn''t the way the world was trending, your post would still be offensive.

noelwr: our careers are not intertwined and dependent on the public''s "buy in" of our image. It is not the same. You cannot separate public and private for celebrities of Tiger''s stature and level of sponsor endorsement. You can agree that products being marketed to the public rely on positive public perception right? Tiger is in essence is a product being marketed and billion dollar business as a result. His name is not only what he is called, but a brand. It is tied to his sucess on the course as well, but he cannot have one without the other to enjoy the level of success he has. This isn''t to say his achievement as an athelte is erased, it''s just taken a major hit and unless he keeps winning as soon as he returns, his career will be donzo. While I agree knowing every personal detail is getting ridiculous, the line is very gray and it''s hard to determine where a public life ends and private life begins in today''s world. However he did alot of this to himself by choosing to have multiple dalliances with women with not so great character--who were very quick to sell every tidbit of the story once given the opportunity (and saved all the texts, photos, messages,etc).
