Everything still feels sort of crazy. I apologize for the typo in the first post, I did mean October 28th, 2008... which is, yes, about a week and a half! from now! So soon!

We just feel ready for it at this point, and it alleviates a lot of stress.

Of course, it comes with its own stress. Being secretive sucks. However, FI's parents live in Sacramento and mine live on the East Coast, so we feel like it wouldn't be fair to tell ANYONE, for fear of their deciding to just come on over. We're trying to keep it fair, and including her family but not mine wouldn't be fair at all. I know my mom would fly in a heartbeat, but my sister and dad cannot, nor can S's brother and dad, although her mom could. Somehow having just our mothers be there doesn't seem quite right, and even then it would be a hardship on my mom. It sounds horrible, but we don't feel we can necessarily trust that if they know about it they won't try to come. They love us, and I don't blame them! We will have a huge white vow renewal, yadayada, and everyone will be involved in that, whenever we ultimately decide to do it, but this is not the time.

We are planning to use Mia's photographer, after getting more info from her via email and giving it some thought. We do want to preserve the memory with pictures, for sure.

I am going to post a thread sometime this weekend asking for advice about a few local details that those of you in the area might be able to help me with! You are all so sweet to offer!

Meanwhile, I am having all of these insane and irrational thoughts about our flights and time crunches, etc. We can only stay for one night... we are arriving in SF at 11:45am, and our appointment to get a license is at 4:30, the ceremony is at 5:00. Omg what if something goes wrong?!?!?! But it can't, right? That would be just too horrible! I think I need some dust...

Their very limited slots are insane right now, though, because so many people are trying to get married now that the poll numbers for prop 8 are coming out and it's not looking good. We're already taking up one of their "extra" slots they made just for that purpose, so we can't get another one if something tragic happens to these plans. But it won't. It can't.

No, honey. It won''t go wrong. I know you have more than the average amount of stress going into this wedding (and into this marriage in general) but do *not* stress about the plane. Seriously. You can''t control it. Be on time, and trust that the pilot will be too. You''re just in southern California, right? So it''s an hour flight, on average. Even if you take off when you''re supposed to land, you will make it on time.

It''s times like this when I actually wish I''d held onto my CA residency a little while longer. It would have made me very happy to cast my "No" ballot to Prop 8.

So relax. YOU''RE GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said, I''m insane.

We are actually in MA, so in order to get to CA by 11:45am we have to leave here at 6am and make a connecting flight in some random state I can''t even remember right now with not a lot of time to spare. I never used to worry about flights, but the last two times [only times...] I flew to CA I had major delays that led to us not arriving until DAYS [literally!] after we were booked to get there. Traumatic.

Anyways, there''s nothing we can do about that, so we''re just gonna go with it.

Princess, I totally wish I was a CA resident right now. Alas, I am a MA resident. That''s part of what is making me so nuts! I will be a CA resident soon though, since we are moving there this summer and I plan to establish residency asap.

By the way, thanks to everyone who is voting no on Prop. 8. I can''t even explain how much that means to us, and to a lot of other people.

OMG!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!! I am sooo excited for you!

Did I mention that I love SF City Hall and it is the BEST place to get married in the whole world? Okay so yeah I am a bit biased.....

One of my favorite things was that I was married in a place where such an important historical event occured! I love California and am going to be so proud to tell my children one day that I was married where it all started!

I''m not a huge voter (bad, I know) but I am definitely planning on going this year to vote NO on prop 8!

Oh and have you ever heard of Vienna Teng? You HAVE to hear this song called "City Hall." I kinda stole it for our wedding picture montage, even though we are straight because well, it fit. But honestly the first time I heard it and really listened to the lyrics I cried. For a while I would honestly listen to it over and over again and just cry. It''s so sweet. And that was before I ever thought about getting married there myself!

Okay, so it''ll be tight. But you know what? It''s doable. I''ve made the mad dashes through airports and dealt with delayed flights, but there''s only be once I haven''t made the connection I need. Make sure you do your best to only pack carry-ons. So much easier, and no fear when transferring flights.

Mia- You are too sweet!! I adore your wedding. City Hall is just gorgeous. I''ve never actually seen it, so it will be a very fun thing indeed. I don''t blame you for being biased one bit. I am also really into City Hall''s role in a lot of really awesome history. I am honored to be a part of it, and honestly so lucky to be able to have this opportunity, as complicated as it might be. Thanks for the "no" vote on prop 8. Things are going rather poorly on that side, and polls show the pro prop. 8 people winning by enough of a margin that its prompted us and many others to go ahead and marry before Nov. 4th. The Vienna Teng song is just gorgeous. I had never heard it before. It''s so sweet that you used it for your montage [which is gorgeous, by the way!]

princess - It will be tight, but it has to be fine. It just has to! We''ll run. We''ll cry. We''re only bringing carry-ons! If we miss the appointment because of some catastrophe we''ll call City Hall and plead to Gavin Newsom to allow us to marry anyways.

We unfortunately can only afford to book him for a one hour shoot, so we''re most likely going to stay at City Hall and get as many beautiful photos there are possible rather than going with another location. We are definitely going to spend the night hanging out in SF in our dresses, though, and seeing all sorts of cool things and just enjoying ourselves.

I will make another thread soon because we haven''t booked a hotel and have a few other things that you local gals will probably be able to help with, as well as more details! I don''t know what we would do without PS here to back us up!

That sounds awesome! Be sure to take photos yourselves if you can. Our friends did this and they were the most amazing photos and in some ways better than the pro shots. If FI and I weren''t in the middle of switching our kit and lenses for our own wedding we''d volunteer to take some for you!

Oh yeah I saw that he added the 1 hour option since we used him. Well believe me when I say that you can get a lot of shots in an hour and there are soooo many different interesting places to shoot in city hall, and outside, so don''t worry you will get a bunch of different shots!

AND I just figured out that you''re getting married on my monthaversary (haha, BF and I are dorks...it''ll be 3 years and 9 months), so I''ll be thinking about you and wishing you the best all day. I''ll be thinking about you and FI (DW, soon!) and I''ll be brimming over with happiness for you.

mia - The one hour is so convenient for us, since the 2 hour is sadly out of our pricerange.

It is working out so perfectly so far, I am so psyched! Pictures are really important to us both, so it is wonderful to know we will have photo memories of this special occasion! The photographer seemed to think we would get awesome shots in and around City Hall so it wouldn''t make sense to shoot a 2nd location. I am happy to take his advice and not waste any time!

Your help in figuring out local details is so helpful because I have only been to SF once and although FI has been many times we don''t exactly know our way around.

princess - You are so unbelievably sweet, my dear intellectual twin! We do monthaversaries too, how cool to share yours! Our 1 1/2 years is 8 days before our wedding! I am so happy to be able to share this with all of you, and beyond touched that you are so excited for us.

FI has been following this thread and she is excited about all of the sweet responses, and also amused because she has heard about how I have an intellectual twin on the "diamond site" [as she refers to it, poking fun at me

]. She is a Butler fan of epic proportions!

It sounds dorky, I''m sure, but the pictures are something I am SO excited about. We''re really obsessed with pictures, especially pictures of us together, and it will be neat to have professional pics of us together and be able to preserve the memories of what is going to be an INSANE two days!
