Hello,

I've been lurking for a while and you've all been so helpful, so I'd like to pick your brains! I've been wanting to get myself my first really nice ring and fell in love with Julia B Jewelry's blue-green OEC moissanites, here:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/526663988/blue-green-old-european-cut-oec

I'd really like to set a 5mm one in a rose gold bezel setting with an open gallery and sort of cathedral shoulders, and have come down to two settings, one by Julia B herself and the other by another etsy vendor:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/485338843/moissanite-ring-14k-white-gold

The cost to set the stone with the second vendor is several hundred dollars less than with Julia (and I'm a grad student and would really like to stretch my dollar), but I know Julia has a great reputation on PS and is obviously familiar with setting OEC moissanites. Basically, my question is, how much should I expect to be paying for a setting like this, and how important is it for the quality of the final ring that the setter is familiar with OEC moissanites? Both jewelers appear well-reviewed and since this is my first jewelry investment, I'm a little lost with how to decide. Thanks!

Question - have you looked at other moissanites? Caysie Van Bebber, also on etsy and Jonathan at Augustvintageinc.com.? Take your time to find the right stone, especially since you're trying to stretch your dollar. I warn you - when you see Caysie's instagram, you're going to fall in love with her settings. However, I do like the setting from Julia B that you showed. Also check out Loveaffairdiamonds.com - Erica has recently put up her moissanite page and has a Scholt setting very similar to Julia's. Erica is also very knowledgeable about setting old cuts. I suggest you exercise all of your options before pulling the trigger. Good luck and I hope you find exactly what you're looking for.

I've actually been shamelessly stalking Caysie's designs for the last week, they're unbelievably gorgeous! I've looked at loveaffairdiamonds' moissanites too and they're lovely. However, I'm specifically looking for a colored moissanite (I'm intending this as a RHR and I want it to look different than the prototypical colorless stone engagement ring); do you know if any of them (or anyone else) have colored moissanites?

I think I found the Sholdt setting you mentioned (this one? http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/s...featuring-a-3-40ct-gia-i-si1-vintage-asscher/) and it's also gorgeous - more beautiful choices. Thanks!

Yes, that is the Sholdt setting I suggested. You may want to email Erica, Jonathan and Caysie to see if they have a source for colored Moissanite stones. Good luck.
