OEC/Holloway Cut Advisor??

Armywife: Okay - I am struggling here... Would you spend that on that? I would in a heart beat if I wasn't conservative. Also, while I in NO WAY need bigger - I am thinking for that amount of money - that I should have a 6ct~ LOL - although I would not wear that. So if money was no object - would you go for it or wait for same dimensions, etc... but lower color that still is white? (for less)...

Dreamer D are you out there??? :?

Personally, I would not. Especially with old cuts, I would rather drop the color down a little and pay much less for a similar size diamond. Or there is always the option of getting a significantly larger, slightly lower color OEC for the same price as the high colored one. I saw an AMAZING honker that just showed up on Jbeg's photo site, but I think you already know about that. :naughty: I looooove that one. What can I say, with my ginormous size 8 fingers I am a bit of a size hoe.

On the size whore comment (ummm original PS size whore #1 right here thank you very much)... my 3.33 is 9.5mm on average (9.35x9.65) and it looks normal on my size 5.75 finger. I imagine if I had a 10mm it would eventually look normal. So I would always choose a slightly lower color and NOT compromise on cut/patterning at all (never have wanted to!) and the lowest clarity as possible to get size. When I had first contacted OWD about a stone, I literally said, 'my ideal is something like a K SI2 that is eye clean'...well Adam found me exactly that. I firmly believe that the right stone will find people at the right time though I know it's hard to wait!

I know which stone you are considering and it is quite amazing...I''ve admired it so many times and can't quit watching those videos ...LOL! but I agree with some of the other comments the price has always seemed really high to me for that size and an EGL H color. But the strong Blue fl. is just lovely and a great example of that effect on a diamond.

What about that 3.20 L on GOG which Jon states is cut like the AVR's? it is uncerted but less than half the price. Of course you can get it certed before you purchase it. I agree on the lower colors they give a diamond a depth and dimensional quality that you cannot get in the higher colors so you get the best of both worlds ...face up white + depth and dimension depending on the light source so your diamond will show more "character" which is the amazing beauty of an older cut and lower color. A true GIA/AGS L color will face up very white in a well cut stone.

The Megascope on this diamond is bling city. Best wishes on your search.

Yes, I would spend $50k on a diamond if I were rolling in the dough, but not on a 3 c EGL H.

Oh my goodness...the stone is an EGL H? $50k is waaaay too high, in my opinion!

I second this one!!!! It is a much better value and very well cut!!! http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9503/

It is a high L, closer to K, too!

Actually now that it's been pointed out that the stone is EGL H... yeah I don't think I'd spend 50k on it. If it was GIA H that might be different. But my stone is an EGL K and I personally think it's more like a GIA M. I'd be upset if I paid top dollar for a stone that was more like a GIA K or something.

Also, for whatever reason I have the hardest time paying MRB prices for OEC's.

It is an EGL H SI1 and a GIA I SI1

Hello! Yes it is a GIA I/SI1 ( and the othter report H/SI1)... it appears to be super fantiastic but I couldn't get past the amount but then was thinking that I guess an GIA I is rare in that size?? The mm is 9.62 x 9.41 which seemed smaller than all the other 3.5 stones I looked at. PS Thanks sooo much for the heads up on the GOG one. So what do you guys think in terms of pricing? Are OEC's just in a class all by itself? What do you think the 3.56 I/SI1 (GIA) is worth????? Thank you again. You have really helped me a lot!
