OEC Engagement Ring for ME!

Okay so now I'm having trouble pulling the trigger. If I buy from Loose Grown Diamonds I don't know if it has a tint, etc. And I am having trouble with that. I'd feel so much better if a trusted vendor looked at it. I mean, I'll get it, but it's been so long. And I don't even have my tools anymore. And... yeah. I'm freaking a bit.

Well, that diamond is not available anyway. Apparently, it's on their site but on hold for someone else.

I just don't think I can pull the trigger on one of those huge diamond listing sites. If I post the diamonds here, lurkers make them disappear. SO... Probably not going to happen. And I've given up on warm color. David Klass can source higher color old cut sidestones for my setting, lower color would need to be natural diamonds and I want this to be fully man made. And I think any good setting vendor would have same difficulties. I don't want it all custom cut, that's just too much of a pain.

However David, RockDiamond found two diamonds for me to look at. Both are here:

He's been very helpful and has made me feel comfortable. Both ASETS look similar to this one (this is one of the ASETs I don't recall which). And if I remember my ASETs properly all that black is not good. But, I thought I'd post and see if people who have looked at an ASET more recently than 6 years make of it.

Your thoughts appreciated.

I hope you feel better @MMtwo.

If you look at the pavilion / side / back views, it's easier to get a feel for the blue or brown tins. If you have several diamond viewers open in multiple tabs, you can quickly zip between them and see the ones that are bright through the pavilion and others that look suspiciously warm for being D/E/F.

Compromising on color makes sense here. I also hate the risk of doing a custom cut. I want to see the actual thing before paying.

Personally, I'm liking the lower-carat one between those two. The bigger one looks a tad deep, but David knows much more than I do and wouldn't have you look at a dud.

I love this route you chose! Can't wait to see how the design unfolds!

No help for you, unfortunately, but I would jump off a cliff before
wanting to see ASET images of my OEC
And if I remember my ASETs properly all that black is not good
Aside from that - this may be relative.

Not sure, but I think the black would denote the tool colors. Like blue with ASET. I did like the videos and the left side. I would follow up on the image with David and ask about the tool he used. I am the least technical with diamonds...so sorry not more helpful, but I really liked the video of the left diamond. Both were nice.

Sorry to keep adding more replies separately, but I do want to note that those lovely petals in the facet pattern under the table do look more to me like the Victor Canera modern European ideal than the "snowflake" style that you liked in an earlier exchange. I say this just in case you decide that you do not like either stone and want to give David more direction about the facet pattern you like best. The petals here are chunkier / shorter than the ones in the video, I believe, which are longer.

Below, here is the image of what I mean when I say snowflake. I then added a Canera like one as well for contrast.

I like both those very much. The one on the bottom best. Honestly, being here with you guys is fun. But diamond shopping isn't as much, since I am a setting person. I'm like: let's just get the center so we can get to the SETTING!!!

I like the smaller one of the two as well in that video.

@MMtwo How are you hon?

@Rfisher I remember that vaguely that OEC's and ASETs aren't a great match. Thanks for reminding me.

I have been told it will be a while until everything resolves and I wish it was all done yesterday. BUT, I am getting there, thanks!

Funny you mention being a settings girl. I am the opposite, and even my stone fixation is sometimes on stones I shouldn't love. I head right to the bargain bin :D. They havent kicked me outta here yet. :)

I do love where you're headed with these stones though. I have a wonky 1 ct old cut brilliant in my real ER ring (a stone Wink had many years ago) and love how it performs under low light. Love the fat flashes.

I am sorry. I hope everything resolves asap for you.

I love some stones. I actually love those rose cut black and pink opaque and yellow diamonds. But I am also ruthlessly practical these days about what I will regularly wear and what I won't so... I just admire.

Canary diamonds too. This one caught my eye. It's got a GIANT girdle and faces up super small, but it's really pretty to me. https://www.ebay.com/itm/4053588429...83BPZ5&hash=item5e6145142b:g:ns4AAOSw2rxnOCHr

How can 10 x7 seem small? Besides, it's sturdy.
