Hey guys!
This is the OEC I recently purchased. It's my first diamond purchase and I have been wanting an OEC for a while now. I have been searching for some time (loose diamonds and jewelry) and I decided to take a chance on this to see it in person. I have about a week to decide if I want to keep it. My budget is $700. I want it for a everyday pendant and I want to set it in rose gold. My credentials are that it is an nicely cut OEC, and an M or lower.

This little guy is a M SI1 .50ct Medium fluorescence.

It does have a shallow pavillion so there is a fish eye that begins to show when I tilt it. It has a nice spread at 5.39mm (widest).

I tried my best with the pictures (any black you see is my camera reflecting). Everything looks nice and crisp in person, but I don't think I captured it at its best.

Comments and advice are welcome.

Do you like it? Does the fish eye bother you? That is the question.

I wanted to say though -- I LOVE that bezeled ovals ring on your finger. Gorgeous.

Thank you! :)

I actually don't know if it bothers me yet. Which may be a good thing because I tend to obsess over imperfections. Is it visible in the pictures?
I knew it would be there before I bought the stone and I was expecting it to jump out at me but it actually didn't. It took me few minutes of admiring the stone before I decided to look for it. The diamond seems to be really crisp in the center and it only starts emerging when I tilt it.

OK, don't hate me, but that is not a well cut diamond at all. Sorry :blackeye: That is leakage you see, and the patterning does not look crisp. I am sayin this because it sounds like you have no owned or seen many old cuts before? Correct me if that is wrong. I think you can do better!

Rememeber, most diamonds look pretty good. But I think you can find "awesome".

Just to make sure I am giving the diamond its full due, can you please open your original high resolution images and then crop the picstures so that ONLY the diamond is filling the image, then post those cropped images. That will let me see the patterning better. But I see a lot of flags in there that are things I personally avoid when buying old cuts.

Yep, I am definitely new to the old cuts.. they are so difficult to figure out. I appreciate your honesty! Gonna look up more info about leakage. :)

Sure! I have a couple pictures of them where I cropped it. They don't look much better cropped, honestly. Please understand I am super newb at taking pictures of diamonds and I am a little embarrassed of them. I don't want to make it look horrible just in case it really isn't.

I think 700 is high.

Ok... So sorry. But I agree with dreamer. The first thing I said was "yikes" when I saw the pics. I feel like the center is mushy and the facets are not crisp enough. I don't like the pattern of the facets. They don't really compliment each other... I also think 700 is too high. From the pictures, I would return and try to find a better one.

It's all good, thanks for your advice!

Also, if you guys have any diamond suggestions, I would love to see them. I have been searching quite a lot and it's starting to get tiring.

Can you post the rest of those pics but cropped like the most recent two? ETA: I want to see more photos to be sure about the cut. I do think you can find a better cut stone, but if the cut is not too bad and you want it for a pendant... this could be an ok option if you are sick of hunting. I don't have any others on my wish list at present in your desired specs. It could take a while for something to come up -- you know, you have been looking. Anyways, if you can post more photos I'd like to see them.
