Odd cameo brooch found metal detecting

Trying to determine any info on this very old shell cameo brooch. Country of origin and time period. Couldn't find any set with primitive looking prongs like this one. Any help anyone could be or just randoms thoughts....would be appreciated!

Most cameos are carved in Italy, so that would be the origin of the carving.
The piece probably dates to 1900-1930s.
It looks like sterling (or sterling plate) with a brass backing.
What an exiting find!
Too bad the shell is so degraded, but I guess that's to be expected.
