I''m debating whether having the split shank takes away from the center stone. I''m not sure what I think yet.

Anyone else have opinions?
Er... it is easier to like the split shank on a long stone (oval, radiant, EC..., marq) then for square or round. Although I know that either is done often. If it were a rectangular cushion, by all means.

Definitely a matter of personal opinion, I would think.

Deco-D (I hope you don''t mind me shortening your name, btw

), here is a picture of a split shank with a halo, imagine with a cushion though, similar to the Daniel K ring you posted. What do you think? I''m debating whether having the split shank takes away from the center stone. I''m not sure what I think yet.

Here''s the link! Hmmmmm. Def. not "east west" with that stone and your teeny tiny fingers ... but split shank or split crown??? Tempting.

Did you see Lizz''s new cushion/halo? Here is that link.

p.s. -- def. OK to shorten my name. I also answer to plain ol'' "Deco"

Deco, I totally missed this bump! Oh yeah, that was tax weekend....

The exciting news is that Mark will be taking my stone to Leon tomorrow. I''ve decided to just go with Reena''s ring. I kept trying to think of ways to change it slightly to make it "mine," but I just don''t want to mess with perfection. Anyway, hope to get the ring in the next month or so. Gosh, this process of finding a diamond and setting has taken so long that it will almost be my 5th anniversary and 11th year of being together by the time I get the ring! I''m so excited!
