The guys I know (my husband and some of his friends) it seems their biggest lust are old pick up trucks, one with character, original paint job but still working.

I think it depends on what kind of dude you are trying to catch.

the main thing is to be yourself, and to have a car that reflects that. Otherwise it's just faking anyways.

They say women are attracted to men of a certain car but at least the women I know, aren't and in fact make fun of men driving what we call p*nis cars. I barely drive myself so it's not a big factor as long as the car is not physically ugly/broken parts/crammed with fast food wrappers or dirty/messy in some fashion, because that reflects badly on the driver. And big SUVs are a turn off (if I was single wouldn't date someone with a gas guzzler/similarly obnoxious car).

which cars fall under the category of "p*nis" cars?

Muscle cars with big powerful engines, big tires, sporty, macho, jacked up suspensions, and mufflers modified to make an ominous low rumble.
These all make you more of a man.
The joke is, men with small ones compensate by buying a macho big vehicle, especially a Dogde Ram truck.

Me? I don't have to compensate.
I drive a little wimpy hybrid.
You know what THAT means. :Up_to_something: :naughty:

Except there ARE people out there that own muscle cars with big powerful engines because they enjoy CARS and they don't enjoy them because they make you 'more of a man.' I don't think ANY car makes you more of a man and while some men that do drive these cars may think so, gotta keep in mind that many others do not.

I know.

It's just another non-PC unfair stereotype, like . . . women can't parallel park.
Shame on us all.

I LOVE watching youtube videos of bad parking jobs.
Some are hysterical, and yes some are men drivers.

actually the friend was referring specifically to the small sportscars that typically have 2 seats and basically have the shape/outline of "fill in the blank". And yeah the idea is overcompesation is going on.

I don't think of trucks, souped up vehicles in the same category. The people I know who have trucks, use them all the time so I see trucks as utilitarian, not as a macho thing. But maybe I'd put a truck in that category if it was a brand new shiny truck that was used for commuting

No, I can't imagine. :saint:

Hahaha! I can't believe we're talking about "p*nis cars". I'm with AN. That wasn't in my lexicon until today.

Interesting...

I bring it up because my husband owns a two seat sports car and I'm 100% sure that people in the car world would NOT consider it a "p*nis" car whatsoever. Maybe it is to the outsiders? We've only really gotten  looks when driving the car not dirty ones. Maybe this is just something I won't be able to understand. I think people generally need to keep in mind that there are many people out there that like cars and drive really nice cars not for the purpose of it being a status symbol but because to THEM its a form of art. I can tell you that Audi enthusiasts are these kinds of people. We don't buy Audi's because we want to be macho or because we want to have a P car but because the design and manufacturing of the cars sing to us. Some people don't get it and that's definitely fine because I sure as hell know that us being diamond lovers seems pretty crazy to most people too.

I don't really think ANY particular car is a P car...I think its how the person carries themselves in general that can make someones car look like one.

When I was college I drove a dude-magnet type of car. It was a supped up Honda Civic Hatchback SI stick shift, dropped low to the ground with limo tint, chrome rims etc. Guys got a kick out of the fact that I drove a "dude" car, so I used to get a lot of guys asking to check out my car or to even to race!

I drive a Honda Civic SI now and I get comments from dudes all the time about my car and I've been solicited to race too! Lol! 8-)

I don't know about young dudes. But my 40 year husband gets really excited when we see a vintage European cars like triumphs and MGs. He also really loves porches, lamborghinis, ferraris that type of thing.

Interesting. I find it more difficult to park in a parking lot.

Sorry if I offended anyone! It was just a term a girlfriend used and it stuck in my head whenever I see cars like that!
I actually don't see what other people were calling as "macho" cars in the same category, just see them as what I call "hobby" cars. A lot of guys in my family are into cars (fixing and reselling them) and I just see it as someone's hobby, not trying to make a particular statement other than they are really into cars. I am more impressed by someone taking an old vintage car and completely fixing it up so it looks like new again, than taking a stock type car (and other than mods to improve performance) adding other relatively useless additions, decals and "flash", cause it looks like they are trying to make it into something it isn't, but that's just my prejudice.
