Hello,
My boyfriend and I began the processing of looking at engagement rings. We did some research and looked at diamonds in stores to determine the 4Cs we want. We are budget conscience though decided not to sacrifice on the color (D) or the cut (ideal). We were told the best area to "skimp" would be the clarity. We've decided to go with an SI1 (GIA) or a VS2 and up for any other grading laboratories. That being said, since I am not buying an IF or FL:
What "characteristics" are the most ideal to have when buying a diamond that has inclusions? The only inclusions I've heard of are feathers (which are cracks) and clouds (which are crystals).
The jeweler we visited said there are inclusions that are black, which are more apparent than white inclusions. When buying a diamond online, how would you be able to tell if it's a black/white crystal?
Any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
