Hi everyone -
I've been browsing PS for the last week or so, and it has been incredibly valuable, so thanks to all of you for creating this great resource and for sharing your expertise! Now I'm hoping to get some specific advice on the asscher cut for a pendant.
My husband has given me some beautiful diamond jewelry, and now I'm buying a solitaire pendant myself (with his encouragement). I love square stones and would like either an asscher or a cut-cornered square (like the Princess of Hearts) in the 0.6 carat range for the pendant. I realize that these are totally different looks, but I love them both.
I'm leaning toward the asscher but wonder whether in the size I'm considering, the beauty of the asscher and the step cuts will be lost. I would love to solve the problem by buying a much bigger asscher stone instead, but sadly that's not in the budget (-: So I'd appreciate your thoughts. Will the asscher be so small face up as to be lost in a pendant? If it's going to look just like any other pretty square stone, then am better off with a brilliant cut square shape?
This has been a really fun process so far, and any expertise you can lend me on whether certain shapes/sizes work better than others in a solitaire pendant would be appreciated. Thanks!
