Hi everyone,

I''m looking at diamonds sold at WF (because I will be trading up with them). Very few fit in my price range. Question is I looked at some kind of lame cut stones at a B&M the other day that were .70 and .71 and there was a noticable size difference between those and my .42. It''s just that I found only a few diamonds up on the WF sit that would work for me and one is under .70. It''s closer to .60. Would I notice the difference? My other option is to go down to an I SI1. The diamond I''m replacing is an E and I realize that an I would be a huge jump down and I''m not sure I would want to take that leap since I''m still deciding if the bigger diamond will go into the pendant I have or if it''ll be the upgrade to my eng. stone.

Anyway, would .20 make a difference in such a small sized diamond?

Also, is it better to just call WF and have them look for a diamond for me that meets my criteria? With the other two purchases I made, I found the diamonds on their website. This time should I arrange plans ahead of time?

Thanks.

0.42c is about 4.8mm
0.62c is about 5.5mm

So it is a significant increase in diameter, almost 15% increase in diameter and 31% increase in area.

I think it''s enough of a difference to be worth it. I know I would see the difference.

Perfect. Thanks. Does look like I''ll notice the size difference. So glad. . .nothing worse than obessing over this to not see anything dramatic.

MC! I would wait until you get the perfect stone. What's the rush, right?

This is your FOREVER stone, so I'd wait until the perfect one comes along! You don't want to regret anything and your DH would give you the "Whatchu talkin' about Willis?" if you changed your mind again! I know my DH would if he said only one last upgrade! So I say call WF and wait it out for a perfect .7 stone for you!

Be really super sure about going from an E to an I. I is still very white in a very well cut stone in that size. But it might bother you. And that's coming from an owner of 2 sets of killer I/J studs. If this is a pendant, I'd say go for it in an I or even to a J or K! If this is a ring you're going to be staring at in all kinds of lighting - make sure you're going to be OK with a warmer color. I love my I/J studs but they are on my ears and if I had to go from an E to an I for a ring I'd be staring at in all lighting scenarios, I think I would be bothered. I'm too color sensitive, I'm afraid. An E is a different animal...so if you love that icy bright white, you may miss it over time and question it in your head, even if the I is bright white. In a yellow room, even an E will throw off yellow but if you had an I, you might wonder if it's because it's an I that it's yellow. Mind clean craziness! Only a PSer would be so nuts. LOL

Thanks Bliss. I do want to wait for the perfect stone, yet I'm one with no patience! lol

Also, I'm still not sure if this will be a pendant or a ring (since I can switch my current eng. ring/pendant settings around around). Interestly enough, my son told me I should put the larger stone into a pendant and keep my eng. ring as is because it's special because dad gave it to me! Eh. Only 9 years old and he's already figured out the meaning of sentimentality!

My compromise on color was going to open up my color range to an H or up to a G, but since looking at the size chart, it seems that I can get an F SI for only $200 more than an H I found. As long as I stay within the amount I've allocated, I can go up and still not go over in price. I'm compare the E around with I stones while I still have the pendant to see what they look like. I'm color sensitive and can see the difference between that E stone and my G stone.

Hi MC,

My WF ACA studs are .33 and .34 (G) and my WF ACA pendant is .58 (J) and I see a BIG size difference. Color wise, not so much.

I bet a .20 size difference will be just as noticable as my .24 difference.

Good luck!

I think you would see a big difference and will be happy with the larger size.
