Sometimes I by jewlery with my hart and do not care if it the stone is "real" or not. One of my favorite rings is like this and I just love it.

I hope that I am not the only one, and would love to se your "non PS" special bling.

Let me start
18 karat yellow gold with a synthetic ruby/sapphire from 1930

Your ring is lovely! Many of us make purchases with the heart...
I like to think that folks here are accepting of all bling presented, and there are subforums to fit every topic. My budget is v e r y modest and PSers have always been most gracious when I share.

I have a similar one from my nanny. It was her engagement ring, and her fiancee passed away in ww2. She never remarried. It is one of the most precious pieces that I have.

This is one of my more unusual purchases and quite surprising.
Surprising because it’s a beautifully constructed designer piece, it has two tone gold and carefully set side stones and yet only CZ.
Who or why someone went to so much effort for this ring will forever be a mystery.

Darling Borris modeling i assume Great Aunty Neter's jade bracelet
im assuming it was Great Aunty Neter's s because she was the only one who did exotic traveling back in the day when it was very expensive to travel even to Australia-
Uncle Horrie was in the civil service and i know they went to japan perhaps in the '60's so maybe they went via Hong Kong
perhaps she gifted it to her sister, my grandma
it was in mum's things
it is only gold plated
i did have to get some of the links replaced

Thank you so much!
It is funny how some things just sings to you and it is not always what you think it would be
I am lucky to live where older jewlery are still somewhat cheap, if you can say that with the gold price.

Soo lovely and special
Something similar started my interest in jewlery. I do not know how many hours I spent looking in my grandmother's jewlery box.

That is a stunner
And unbelievable it is like finding a stunning piece with no markers mark/hallmarks.

Such a lovely cat and bracelet
Not many grandparents (relatives) did exotic traveling in the days. I even remember that I found charter exotic when I was really young. Your great aunty must have had an intresting life

I love that beautiful pink! As @Begonia mentioned, this sub is very welcoming, we love it all and love to see it all :kiss2:

Here are mine. A faux ruby in a setting I couldn’t resist. Same with the faux blue spinels. Paid too much, but love them.

This is gorgeous and special. Synthetic sapphire is actually the same material as natural (corundum) so durable and lovely. Enjoy this ring and thank you for sharing and this post.

What a sweet story, @Daisys and Diamonds. The Chinese character that has the light shining n it is “shou” - longevity. The one on the right is “Lu” - prosperity. There should be a third Chinese character “fu” which means fortune.
It is an auspicious bracelet!

Here are a couple of mine, an Edwardian ring with a glass or synthetic ruby and a most likely heavily treated illusion ruby ring. I knew what I was buying but I like them anyways, lol.

i have been thinking of your ring for like 3 days !
thank you for posting yours
you have inspired me to wear an old ring i found in Mum's things when i was having a tidy up (or probably looking for something else ) the day dear Tibby died He is the big Tabby cat in my avitar pic)
@Bron357 is fimilar with this hunk of glass
its 9k rose gold so briefly there was hope it was a synthetic tormalin
a $5 test proved it was just glass
i love the setting but its way too uneconomic to repair it, its had a lot of wear over the years
the stone is really pretty
i dont know where the ring came from-the size is huge and all the ladies in mum's family had tiny hands
it was so tarnished i thought it was brass but it shinned up beautifully
i wonder when it was last worn by anyone before me ?
im going to have it made into a pendant, because it is pretty even if it is only glass

OP, I love your ring! That stone is one of my favourite colours.

Here’s one imperfectly perfect jewel that I just love.

She’s an old lady with condition issues (copyright goes to Stracci for that phrase), and the carving is not that detailed. But my budget is reaaaaally tight, so I have to compromise somewhere. I’d love to be able to afford only things like these:

IMG_9970.jpeg
IMG_9971.jpeg

But I doubt that’s ever going to be in the cards for me. In the meantime, I’m going to rummage the internet for the best deals and enjoy my finds. (Screenshot from listing video, hence the bad quality.)

IMG_9968.jpeg

I also have this wonky-but-charming ruby and pearl ring, that even my husband, who has zero interest in jewellery, and my kids (3 boys, one girl) love:

IMG_9974.jpeg
IMG_9976.jpeg

Jewellery doesn’t need to be perfect to be beautiful. :kiss2:

good luck with the cameo
i love theses ones and i really hope you can get one or one similar

speaking of not up to PS standard
this is a current/pending project (Just have to get off ban island
first)
so i have a collection of royal family
commemorative china that i have spent way too much on as it depreciatse
in value as we speak (but i collect it for for my own enjoyment)

but my time in the PS community has taught me the hard lesson to be patient and to try not to over pay for my little pretties
this cost NZ$8 -i was very lucky to be the only bidder on trade me (NZ EBay)
im planning on having the jeweller mount it in silver and get an enhcnacer bail for it, it is currently a brooch detached from but including its brass frame,
....it is drum roll please !
(I like to add vintage)
plastic
1720767148332.png
this is a picture from EBay -it doesnt even have the brass frame , i think im quite pleased with my $8

while we are talking about plastic
this is old enough to be antique plastic
i brought it as real cherry amber
i was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo green
like everything i buy from the internet the necklace was too short
it had been opera length butchered into two and i had one half that had been made into an ugly demi parure with the grossest findings
i was devistated to find out it was bakealite as the seller assured me it had been tested for amber
- i prefer to think that maybe she was green also
but i was able to buy a much cheaper broken strand to lengthen my beads into a wearable necklace ...and i now have enough beads for a 2nd strand and a big pendant
the first necklace is almost ready to pick up from the jeweller hopefully with nice tight knots

I love these. They look so much of my sister's (genuine, inherited) amber necklace. (Sorry, I don't have a picture.) My sister is not into jewellery at all, but that's the one thing she does like to wear. My mother, also not into jewellery, also liked to wear them, so they remind me of her. They are so understated, non-flashy, and quietly stylish, as my mother was.

Fingers crossed for the re-stringing.

Thank you, you’re so kind! I love cameos too, and have for a very long time.

I’m sorry they are not what you were looking forward to. They’re a gorgeous colour nonetheless! Fingers crossed the stringing goes well. And I hope you find a strand of real cherry amber for a great price, sometime in the future!

thank you
i do love the bakealite
but it just took a while to fall back in love with them on finding they were only bakeaite when i thought i was paying for amber
i hope i have learned from this
i carry the one big bead around in my purse, its so pretty

Love the cameo! You rarely see one with a full-frontal face. Your ring is beautiful, too.
