Northern Lights?

I'm a winter baby and so usually for my birthday I go to warm places. But I recently got the bug in my head to go chase the Northern lights, and it's probably the kind of trip I want to take sooner rather than later, while I don't have kids or too many health considerations.

Was wondering if anyone has done a dedicated trip to see the northern lights and any advice?

This one seems super cool to me, and like a surreal experience:

Hi @MakingTheGrade =)2
The Northen Lights are one of my favourite things about our Canadian north. I've spent a lot of time working in Whitehorse and the NL are incredible. One night they were so intense they woke me up. I woke up my stepmom and we went outside in jammies/coats with my dog and just watched them dance for at least an hour - I think it was about 1 am. They are surreal. Don't know where you are exactly in the USA, but here is hands-down Canada's best little airline that will take you YVR - YXY.

we were hoping to see them in iceland a couple of years ago but missed the right weather conditions by a week. my advice would be to make sure you'll be happy with your vacation even if they don't come out b/c they can be elusive. we luckily caught a glimpse on the plane but it was cloudy all week on the ground. had a really nice time anyway =)
