Oooh, thanks for the close up! The cakes are so cute! I always thought it would be fun to decorate cakes like that..unfortunately my skill level is very, very basic.

There''s more to the construction of a stacked cake than just the stand. Generally you need to insert dowels into the cake to suport the weight of the stand as well as the weight of the tiers. Just pull them out when serving. You can use wooden or plastic, but make sure they are food grade. You can get them at a bakery store or the cake section of a craft store. The wooden ones are easier since you can trim to size, and generally less expensive.
