Hello,
I am sorry I do not have a picture of two wedding bands we will be stacking. However, if you can stick with me, I think can describe them well enough for the advice I need.

My lady will be getting a 14k white gold regular solitaire ring. We went shopping and she found the bands she likes (she wants to stack two bands with her engagement ring).

The bands are 14k white gold with diamonds all around the bands, 3/8 carat weight each band. The bands are not flat on the edge however. They follow this pattern: rectangle piece with 2 diamonds set in them, connected by a single round shape with one diamond in it. All diamonds are round. But the ring looks like rectangles connected by single circles. Very petite looking...hope that is clear...

They will not be sautered together, all 3 rings will be separate. I didn''t care for the idea, but she is happy and in person it worked well.

My question is, will the 3 bands rub each other and cause problems?
Are diamonds in set in this fashion (the one you can''t see :) ) pron to falling out?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Are there any stones that will directly face the band of her ering (put the ring on its side, are you looking directly at any stones?)? Rings that aren''t soldered together have the potential to rub and wear their neighboring bands. That''s part of wear and tear and usually isn''t an issue (scuffs can be buffed and polished out). The problem comes in when there are exposed diamonds that can rub up against the neighboring bands. This can scratch or wear down the ring next to it. This is particularly bad if the stone rubs against a prong (eg, two shared prong rings next to each other) because over time it will errode the prong and the stone could fall out.

Does it look like the last ring on this woman''s finger?

The diamonds in the rectangle pieces are covered by gold, the circle pieces do also (perhaps less so) too...

But they''re set on top of the band, not on the side, correct?

for the most part, yes it looks like that (perhaps i the exact ring). In that picture the only deviation is the diamonds in the rectangle pieces are more distinctly round? maybe its just the photo. For all purposes, that would be the ring I am talking about.

Are diamonds likely going to fall out of that ring?

Are the stones all bezel-set? Meaning they are totally "wrapped" in gold? If so, I don''t think it should be a problem because the diamond girdles won''t be exposed.

Btw, that pic of Kate Beckinsale''s rings was my inspiration for wanting to stack! I LOOOOVE it!

No, most likely just wearing the rings stacked together will not make the stones more prone to falling out. With any ring there''s a risk of losing a stone, some rings more than others (such as pave set stones), but even pave rings don''t ALWAYS lose stones. Ask your jeweler if he has a warranty period on his rings. I know the jeweler of my ring did. He covered all repairs except losing the center stone for the first year. I had two stones (pave halo ring) fall out during the year and he replaced them free of cost. My wedding bands (2, which I stack on either side of my e-ring) are also pave set and I''ve not lost any stones.

Thank you for the help.

So, if I could reiterate for myself: the pictured ring (probably the same ring as the 2 I am looking at) are likely to be fine and in no need for extra concern?

Thanks
