No more maple leafs inscribed on the girdle?

I was looking at Canadian diamonds some years ago, and I recall that they had maple leafs inscribed on the girdle. I'm looking at some Canadian diamonds now (from various online dealers), but the maple leaf inscriptions seem to have disappeared. Does anyone know why?

What size stone was it?

I looked the same size then as I did now, around 0.5 carats. But I also looked well over 1 carats for curiosity, and could not currently find any inscribed with maple leafs.

is it possible that the maple leaf inscription was associated with a specific company rather than the country?
