Found this stone from a vendor in India
They’re asking about $5,000 for it
There is no certificate

It depends on the vendor. What I will tell you is I bought an uncertified H, which certified turned out to be a K. I got a bargain even for a K - but $5000 is a lot for an uncertified stone. Check our Rare Carat, bets are you will find certified in a close price range.

Nope, get papers!

To me, this is a no brainer.
Why take any sort of risk when so many sellers offer similar stones, with lab reports....

In a some years time all LGD / MMD's will be traded without papers.
Quality will be sorted and brands will stand behind minimum standards, just like Light Box.
But until then it's the wild west.
Reports will eventually cost a big % of the product.
Establishing a trustworthy brand will cost less than grading.

Most natural diamonds cost more to grade than they do to cut and polish.

At that price, I would expect a certificate to accompany the stone, and for the stone to be inscribed with its number for identification purposes.

DK :))

I bought my oval from a vedor in India (lab grown diamond co) and what I found is that most stones, especially if they are new into them are not certified. Any of the stones I was offered where offered with an option to certify, or I could have taken uncertified if I wanted. Having the stone certified usually ends up costing a bit more but for me it is 100% worth getting the certification. I told the vendor I wanted it certified and he gave me a price, sent it off and i didn't have to pay anything until the cert was back and I was happy to proceed! Hope this helps!
