Hi All,
Does anyone have pictures of an actual Niwaka Dawn ring? It''s a sweet piece of work and I''d like to see it from more angles than just the top down view.

Thanks!

No dice.

Bummer.

I don''t have pictures but I''ve been to niwaka to try the rings on, and I was surprised at how much different they looked to me in person. I expected them to be more substantial, but they are quite delicate.

I LOVE niwaka rings, and will hopefully be getting one within the next few weeks... i went to try the phosphor on, but fell in love with the moonlight, which is quite similar to the dawn. so maybe i will have a picture to share in a couple weeks.

That would be awesome. I''d love to see what a Niwaka looks like, and I live just about as far away as I could in San Diego.

I found a Japanese blog that has hi-res pictures of various Niwaka rings (although they seem to be scanned from a catalog).

On the bottom, you can move to older posts (with even more pictures!) Great resource if you need higher detailed pictures for a Niwaka-inspired ring.

Thanks ymmt!

That''s a great resource.

The more stylish rings at Niwaka are unable to accommodate bigger stones. Also, many of the custom Niwaka-inspired creations don''t look as elegant or delicate with bigger stones (it just doesn''t work!!!). Take a look at this thread for reference:

I''m currently in the process of finalizing a setting with Leon Mege which uses this design (The Phosphor on the Niwaka website if anyone''s interested), and I''m a bit worried that it won''t turn out the way I''d like it to look.

I think I''m going to try and show Leon the ''Iris'' tomorrow, since it looks like it is a bit more accommodating for larger stones.

Just throwing in a quick update. Met with Leon early in the morning and he thought I had a very well-cut stone (Thanks WF!). We then moved onto the design where I showed him a few images and he created a mock image of the ring I was looking for. It ended up being a 4-prong solitaire w/ pave running along both sides and a curved shank. Since my FF has very small fingers, both Leon and I agreed that a delicate look would be best. I''m really looking forward to seeing what he can do with this design.

Just as a side note: Leon was very courteous and amiable when I met him. I''ve heard some many different things about him on the forum, and I''m very glad everything had moved along so smoothly. I''ll throw up some pictures in a few weeks when the piece is complete.

ymmt,
That''s sweet that the session with Leon went well. I''d really like to hear about how the Niwaka inspired ring turns out.

I''m bringing this thread back from the dead for the sole reason that I received my Leon piece today and it looks absolutely incredible. His craftsmanship really shows in the details. I haven''t had a chance take any pictures, but I found something similar on Leon''s website.

Unlike the picture below, the ring doesn''t include any side stones. As I had said earlier, creating a ring that looks like the Niwaka piece above requires a small stone and as soon as you attempt it w/ a big stone the looks changes significantly. Nonetheless, I am extremely happy with my ring and I hope to get some real pictures up soon.

Those Niwaka rings are beautiful. I have never seen anything like it before. It is fun to see a designer that really highlights and compliments a "smaller" stone.

As promised! This was taken at the appraiser today. It''s got melee, but not so much as to distract from the main attraction.

Wow. That is just beautiful. It came out so nicely! Its so fluid and lovely, and the shape is gorgeous. I think its my new fave.

Oh goodness! That is breathtaking!

Congrats!

ymmt your ring is stunning and so unique. I think it needs it''s own thread with lots and lots of pictures.
