Nice ruby at Sotheby's

Included in the Nov. 16 Geneva sale is this 8.37-carat unheated ruby in an elaborate Cartier setting. I cannot seem to save a picture so here is the link.

I also like lot no. 324, a pair of rubies set in earrings, that differ considerably in weight and even shape but face up the same, from 1840. The color makes them look edible.

The ruby that attracted me brought 4,277,896 USD, way above the estimate. That price includes the buyer's premium.

And that pink diamond went for more than $20 million! Hard to conceive.
