Newbie would like to know if Michael C Fina will let us "mount our own diamond" or do I have to buy

Hi,

I''m new to this site, and it seems like a great resource with helpful contributors.

I am soon-to-be engaged. My boyfriend has asked me to choose the ring together. I''ve narrowed the choices down to two rings, one by A. Jaffe and the pther by Mark Patterson, both of which I tried on at Michael C Fina in NYC.

My BF already has a diamond for me, it''s a GIA-certified stone from his mother''s first ring (I like my mother-in-law-to-be already!). A 1.32ct, G/VS2/excellent cut. My question, being new to this stuff, is whether Michael C Fina will let us buy a ring from them and have my fiance''s stone mounted? Or would they insist that we buy the stone from them? (Which would make us buy elsewhere.) It''s probably a basic question, but I wanted to ask people more knowledgeable before asking the shop directly.

Hey there,

Yes, Michael C. Fina will allow you to bring in you''re own diamond to mount on any ring you choose (as long as it fits the ring, with the diamond you have, it shouldn''t be a problem).

I recently got my fiancé her ring from Michael C. Fina, and they gave me a rundown of all the services they offer, this one I managed to remember lol.

THREADJACK: You prompted me to look at the Fina website - they have some cool WB''s in particular the ones called: Vine, Swirl motif and 2-tone braid - very cool!!!!

I just got off the phone with Michael C. Fina asking a similar question. As mentioned, they will set a stone you provide. I was very impressed with their friendliness and customer service over the phone.
