This an IGI certfied sone (USA). We paid about $3900 (including taxes) for this at a mall store. Unfortunately we did our research after we bought the diamond !!. I have had the diamond looked at by 2 or 3 different Gemologists and they agree that this stone would probably be a VS2 if not for an inclusion (feather) at the corner close to the table but not real close. The color is likely an or maybe an I/J borederline as it is mounted gold. We are now debating what to do because we like the diamond but are now thinking about round intead of Princess as obviously round shines more. On the other hand we have not been able to find a round at this carat size to even close the price !!! Should we go One carat round in similar price range. We went to another jeweller and he was ready to give us close to 7k as a trade in and pay about about $2.5k and get a 1.5 carat round.

Please advise with any suggestions. Thanks. The pictures are attached.

Very pretty princess! Have you tried doing a diamond search with the Pricescope vendors?
You can try (just to name a few):

www.goodoldgold.com
www.whiteflash.com

If your wife desires square with the brillance of round you could try the Square H & A.
Many on here will tell you that you could find a much better deal online instead of "stores" For more vendors just go up to Resources at the top of your page and click on Diamond vendors.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I have looked at a number of online dealers including however we are looking at about another 2-4k more for the same diamond so we she is debating..

I really recommend returning this stone and doing a little research before buying again. Your stone only measures 6.2 x 6.0, and a round 1 ct. should be about 6.4 mm round. So you don''t need to look at 1.5 ct. round diamonds to get one of similar size. You can look in the .90 to 1 carat range in rounds. And please ask for only GIA Excellent in cut or AGS0 Ideal cut. This will insure that you are looking at some of the better quality stones. The grading is much more reliable as well.

Example:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1124227.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131 1.0 cts. I SI1($4100 with wire and pricescope discounts)
