update this thread again when you have more details of the scope.

I can give you an honest opinion without waiting for an idealscope.......................and it's good that you requested one! It looks great from the numbers!! This is why I love "VG" stones, because they can still have numbers like that and get a good score on the HCA. It faces up pretty large which is always great! Can't wait to see what the idealscope looks like!

Thanks, i will post as soon as i have the images.
I had a question about Table/depth, i was under the impression that both should be around 59%-62% with Table<Depth.
Is this correct? Any comments/good reads would be much appreciated.
Also, what other numbers should i watch out for (more so than others) for a 2ct diamond?
Thanks!

^ That thread references the PriceScope "cheat sheet" for rounds. That might help you with general rules for angles, table size, depth. It's not mentioned as much here nowadays because some people an probably some vendors thought it was to restrictive (rules out too many diamonds.) Personally, I prefer tables 55%-56% and crown % around 15%, for a good balance between fire and brilliance. The current consensus here seems to be that a little leakage in the table area is okay.

A J color in that size will have quite a bit of tint.

Ditto TC, a J of that size will look like a "white diamond" to casual observers but on close inspection you'll see the tint (esp compared to higher coloured stones) unless you're particularly colour-insensitive, IMO (I own and love 2.7 J RB).

GIA rounds lgf to 5% and 85 is unusual here on PS... a very splintery look, means those lower halves are shallower than if length measurement is shorter. Pics will tell you a lot more.

Thanks TC and Yssie!
Wow that thread is exactly what i was looking for :read:
Yssie could you please elaborate on the depth part? Is it too deep? Stone measurements seem to be within range of suggested numbers in cheat sheet.
Do you recommend buying "I" color on that size? That is going to jack up the prize.
Also, i am primarily looking at b2c, is there a recommended list of retailers? I see a lot of jamesallen.com listings in forum posts.

Bump. Can someone please answer my questions above?
Still haven't received details of the diamond above from the site :(

There are the "featured sponsors" listed on PS (under resources)...BC2 is one of them. A lot of people prefer on-line retailers that will provide idealscopes or ASET images...I am not sure if that is what BC2 will provide you. James Allen and GOG are very popular on PS. I used ERD recently, but I saw stones in person. Not sure how they handle on-line only.

As far as color, that is a personal choice. My sweet spot is color I, but it depends on setting, etc. I have a 2.3 carat in I, but I bought a J first. The J certainly faces up white, but the side view showed the "tint" and my setting didn't cover that up. Thus, a return and more money to get the color I. If you have seen a J in person and you are ok with it, then go for it! It does help in the price!

I will leave it to others to answer your depth question.

Good luck with your purchase!

Thanks tweeter! I will go and checkout how a 2ct J looks vs I.

No, it's not deep. I'm talking about LGF variation (the 85% on your report) - most easily visible effect is skinny vs. thicker arrowshafts

I think that cheat sheet lends itself to misinterpretation - and thus misuse - so I don't recommend it... YMMV. For me the I/J jump is where it shifts from "white for all practical purposes" to "nearly colourless" - same cutoff Tiffany decided on. My 2ct I in platinum just looked *white* - it didn't have the sometimes-eggshell, sort-of-chameleon look that my J does. My J is ~1mm larger though, so it's not a perfect sample, but... well, YMMV.
Definitely a good idea to go out and look at some 2ct Is and Js in-person!!
