First I want to thank everybody who has taken the time to contribute to some prior posts for other users. I have learned a lot already just on your previous comments!

I''m currently looking to buy a princess cut Diamond and wanted to get some feedback from the experts. Here are the particulars of the diamond.

The price of the diamond is about 5K. I''m a little concerned about the EGL certificate on what I have read it isn''t the best grading company compared to others. I haven''t seen the diamond yet (union diamond is the seller) but I have a friend in Atlanta that could look at it if there aren''t other major issues with this diamond that you point out. (this diamond is located at their store)

I have learned that there really isn''t an ideal cut despite their claim that it is. With that being said, do the dimensions look normal/good?

I''m willing to spend upto $5,500 (give or take a little) and would really like to get the opinions of the experts. My girl has a preference to size and I want the diamond to be Eye clean. I would also prefer the color to be near colorless grade or better.

Any help the community can provide me is greatly appreciated!

Nope. Generally you want the table to be slightly smaller than the depth, in the 60s range and depth in the 70s. Crown depth is also too shallow, generally a good stone will be in the 10-15% range.

if you are looking for a near colorless diamond keep in mind that an EGL H is probably a GIA/AGS I or J (experts correct me if I am wrong here)

also i am not sure what you mean by there is not an ideal cut, AGS grades diamond cuts on rounds and princesses and assigns a grade of ideal to a cut that falls into their parameters

the cut quality is going to affect how much the diamond sparkles, for an example of this i have linked a video

some diamond vendors may say that a diamond is ''ideal'' cut, this is not the same as being graded by AGS as ideal

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a feeling I have some work to do in my investigations!

Alright friends I''m still on the hunt and came accross this diamond. I''m still trying to verify that it is eye clean but here are the specs.

Cut: Princess
Weight: 1.32 cts
Measurements: 5.89 x 5.86 x 4.21 mm
Depth: 71.8 %
Table Width: 64 %
Crown Height: 14 %
Pavillion Depth: 54 %

Girdle Thickness: Medium to slightly Thick, Polished
Polish: Very Good
Symmety: Very Good
Cutlet: None

Clarity Grade SI1 (The inclusions are on the table)
Graining: Very slight
Color: D

Lab: EGL

Price: $4,800

I think this diamond has better diminsions than the previous diamond I selected but I am concerned about the Clarity. If it turns out to be eye clean, do you think this is a good option for the price?

Thanks again!
