newbie here...need your thoughts on this cushion cut!

So, I've been lurking here for a couple weeks and am ready to post!! Here are the specs for a cushion cut diamond I have recently been shown. it is from a very reputable source, but i want to see what everyone thinks about it before i tell you who sourced it. my concern is with the dimensions, I have not seen this stone in person yet, but I have seen video. ok here goes:

- cushion modified brilliant
- 9.83 x 6.53 x 3.94
- 2.04 carat
- I color
- VS2
- GIA
- Polish = Good / Symmetry = Good

This stone obviously faces up huge, but do you think it could be cut too shallow?? FYI, the date of the grading report is just a few months ago in 2013, so it isn't like the stone has been sitting around for years and years. Any advice or thoughts you can give will be much appreciated!

Cushions are a whole different ball game as far as just seeing the specs. Did you like the stone in the video? If it does look good to you, then you'll have some massive finger coverage going on!! Hopefully one of the "cushion experts" will help you!

That is a phenomenally shallow stone. Going by the shorter length, it's about 60% depth, which is shallow to begin with. However, calculating with the longer length, the depth is only 40%! Unless the cutter was incredibly skilled and did some very tricky cuts, I wouldn't expect this stone to reflect much light. Looking at the carat weight and low marks for polish and symmetry, chances are this stone was cut for weight, not brightness.

How did the video look? Was it a bright stone with reflecting facets, or did it have a glassy see-through look to it? I'd also make sure the lighting used to shoot the video was natural and/or reasonable.

I have a more shallow cushion and it sparkles like crazy, so don't judge it until you see it. Also cushions that are modified brilliant tend to have the "crushed ice" look. Some people may like that look while others don't, again I think you would have to see it. I prefer a regular cushion brilliant or an antique cushion because I am a fan of the chunky facets.

On a 1:1.50 ratio, the 60% TD% could also generate an incredible stone depending on all other proportion factors of-course.
Dont eliminate it until you get more info.

Thanks everyone for your input!! I will say the stone did look gorgeous in the video. And I am on the hunt for an elongated cushion so this may be the one.
