Hi All,
I just wanted to share the exciting news that as a complete diamond newbie and following many months of enjoyable research (thank you price-scope and google), I have finally chosen a diamond for my girlfriend's engagement ring! I've settled on a 0.92 carat fancy yellow square radiant-cut diamond, which looks absolutely beautiful and in my opinion has been cut very nicely.
I will do my best to get some pictures up soon, but in the meantime here is a copy of the GIA report:

In retrospect, if I had known how much it harder it would be to find a nicely cut coloured diamond, then I might never have considered a fancy yellow; The whole process for cutting these coloured diamonds seems to be fundamentally different, with cutting profits maximised through increased saturation and size, rather than light performance. In any case, though it might have been nice to see a bit more spread on this diamond I am feeling happy and confident with my purchase.
I haven't made my mind up on the setting for this diamond, but I am leaning towards a trilogy setting with some nicely cut 0.3 carat square radiant-cut diamonds in support.
Thanks,
Thomas
