What are you doing for New Year's Eve?

I'll start. We had a tradition for basically my entire life to spend New Year's Eve with my parents and sister and close friends. Either at my parents house (when we were younger) then at my home (when we got older) and ultimately at my sister's home (when her kids were born).
We have done that every year since I can remember with the exception of last year.

Fast forward to this year and once again my dh and I are spending a quiet New Year's Eve at home with the kitties. The perfect way to spend New Year's Eve for us. I don't enjoy crowds or late nights or noise so spending it at home snuggled up with my dh and cats and going to bed early is just the best. Looking forward to doing absolutely nothing together but relaxing in front of the fire.

What are your NYE plans?

We’ll order in some good food and continue binge watching Breaking Bad which we started this month. I know....boring.
Wishing you, Greg and your fur babies a much healthier, stress free and happier 2020!

I think we are very much the same..I don’t like crowds...lots of people over..having parties..or even going to parties..It stresses me out. My idea of a good time is being home with my family..even my stressed out husband..haha...in my pjs...bling on.....watching one of our shows..and going to bed early..
Happy New Year sweet friends. I don’t know what I would do without you..Truly! xxxxxxxxooooooo.......

We’ve been invited to a neighbour‘s house for the evening but I’m going to take them a bottle of fizz later and make our apologies! I’m not very sociable at the best of times and would much rather stay in with DH and children.

At my favourite pub in town, and then to my second favourite pub when the first one kicks me out shortly after midnight! :lol-2:

Shan't drink much as I am walking home, about 45min, as I have left it too late to book a taxi, hey ho! Shan't make the same mistake again.

Making nibbles for the pub and its sister pub in another town for NYE celebration later today and tomorrow.

DK

Home with my husband, alone with a delicious dinner and a nice bottle of wine. Will watch the countdown and celebrate the new year at 9 pm California time - off to bed with a great book!

We stay home, too. Dinner and TV, or surfing jewelry on the 'net. No alcohol. Booze gives me a headache!

It's a dangerous night to be out on the roads.

As a morning person, I seldom see 10pm, let along midnight. :shifty: So we definitely won’t be ringing in the new year. Instead, my DH and I already have the best plans. Cuddling up on the couch and watching tv...with the Christmas tree lights on, of course. Then off to bed well before the ball drops.

My husband is away, but son is home from med school so he, his girlfriend and my daughter and her friend are coming over. We're going to have cheese fondue and Chinese food. A weird combination but I like it. My son will undoubtedly be by the fireplace the whole time overseeing the flames. Like father, like son.

HI:

No plans. I like parties and some crowds--but New Years tends to be rushed and not the best service or food, so we'll skip going out. I have champagne and will roast a duck.

Weird to think of it being the last Monday of the decade. Just weird to write 2020.

cheers--Sharon

I think we've all had our share of crazy New Year's celebrations, in bygone days!
Time to let the youngsters enjoy, while we sit at home in our PJs and diamonds!

This! In my youth NYE was such a huge deal! Tickets bought well in advance for the best bars & clubs, new clothes, taxis ordered - always such a big deal & great party vibe! But these days & with 2 children, it's a movie, a few glasses of champagne & barely still awake to see midnight, sometimes well asleep before then.

However this afternoon my almost 9 year old has asked if she & her sister (10) can stay up to watch the fireworks & celebrations on tv. Husband will go to bed around 10pm as he's back at work on the 2nd after 11 days off, so is training his body for his usual 6.45am alarm call, but I have agreed to stay up with them. We are all still on school holidays until the 7th, so I shall let them last as long as they can & then sleep in. Plus I will need to enjoy my last alcohol, as I always give up on the 1st & push it out until my eldest's birthday in March.

We ring in the new year as quietly as possible. I don't usually even make it to midnight. My adult kids play board games if they're not going out. Lots of laughing.

I try to make it to midnight most years. He won't, he'll be sleep by 10:30 (dog will too but I will drug her up because of the fireworks) Honestly, I hope it rains, that way the silliness will be a mere dull roar.

Invited close friends over with their kids and their nephews. Kids LOVE each other and will play board games and hide and seek all evening long and we'll chat with a good glass of wine and champagne. Food will be Raclette and fondue..heaven

We live near the coast, and there's a big NYE carnival going on with music, food trucks, icecream, kid's entertainment, jumping castles etc, and early fireworks for the kiddos at dusk at 9:30pm. It will be a lovely warm night so it should be fun!

When young I’d endure the crowds and rowdy behaviour and after a late dinner with friends watch the Midnight fireworks from the best vantage point we could find. Back then it was only the city (Sydney) that had a firework show.
years later with DD and for many years we did the 9pm fireworks watching from Blackwattle bay. We’d get there at 5pm to snag a picnic table for the group and the kids would ride bikes around, play ball games, throw the frisbee while we all ate a picnic dinner. Usually Roast chicken with salad and bread rolls. I’d bring the Sparklers and after watching the 9pm fireworks the kids would run around with sparklers and glow sticks while the parents packed everything up. Then drive home waving at all the traffic bumper to bumper going in the other direction. Carry sleeping DD into the house and off to bed.

We will be at home, which at this age & stage, has become our preferred way to celebrate NYE. It can get so crazy with the drinking & driving, we've 'been there, done that' with all the late night parties etc, and now, its just nice to be home in our jammies relaxing.

We had an invite for NY Day dinner, but even turned that down--DH said 'I just want to be at home'. And honestly, so do I! Christmas Eve & Christmas was so busy here, I'm looking forward to relaxing this Tuesday eve/Wednesday!

Plus, we're getting a good amount of snow tonight, which always makes travel trying, so its just good to stay put anyway.

Its almost 5pm here already
The first really hot summer's day
We usually go go bed early but have got into some bad sleeoing habbits of late so might actually see in the bew year for the first time in forever
in the past ive had to work on new year's day which sux

must stop procrastinating

Happy new year everyone

I've never been a big NYE partier... usually I drink some wine in bed chatting with BF. This year I'm going to the movies with my mom, a sister, and nieces. We'll be watching Little Women and Star Wars in succession. I'll then be in bed around 10pm talking to BF and waiting for midnight so that I'm awake when my kids call (who are with their dad this year). Low key, all family. That's my happiness!

I was fortunate enough to watch the Sydney fireworks over the Opera. Beautiful!

Less than an hour until the fireworks here, we're just relaxing :mrgreen:IMG_20191231_224821.jpg

OMG he is such a gorgeous baby @jordyonbass! Wishing you and your wife and your wee little one a very happy and healthy and joyous New Year! XOXO.

@jordyonbass What a handsome little fellow you have there. Adorable.

May 2020 (!!) bring you much health and happiness all! Happy New Year! Cheers!

I don't think we have ever gone out for New Year's Eve! We might have stayed up for a couple years but we rarely go anywhere. I don't want to be out on the roads after midnight. Too many people who have been drinking. And the gunfire!!! No, all bad.

We are pretty boring. We can watch the festivity's in New York at 9 pm. My idea of a good time.
