I will be purchasing a diamond and engagement ring using PS and I am very excited. With all the great information here, I feel empowered to make a good purchase. For the benefit of new users and first time diamond buyers like myself, I'll post periodically to update on the process. I hope I can do my part to contribute to this great site. Here is my initial gameplan (subject to change!):
5.Work with the vendor to select a beautiful setting for it

1.Read Fred Cuellar’s Book, “How to Buy a Diamond”
2.Using PS search, PS vendor information, and PS user testimonials, down select to a few round diamonds, focusing on
·Premium or ideal cuts, Color E to G, matched to clarity rating
·2008 GIA or AGS certifications
·Round smaller cuts 0.65 to 0.90 carat
·Good value pricewise
·Vendors with good return policy pending independent appraisal
·Vendor's Excellent warranty
3.Down select using the Holloway Cut Adviser
4.Buy it, inspect it and have it independently appraised through a PS appraiser
5.Work with the vendor to select a beautiful setting for it
