I have a few new stones to share. One, a chrysoberyl, dates from last year, but you know how I am with photo-taking. Incidentally, if you see some murkiness in a gem, it's because of the wax I used to prop it up. Also, please ignore my fingerprints.

Chrysoberyl; 4.40ct.

Demantoid; Urals, Russia; 3.23ct. I''ve shown this stone before, but the picture was even worse.

Blue spinel; probably from Luc Yen, Vietnam; 2.63ct. I don''t usually dip below 3ct, but the colour was too stunning to pass up.

Oh, those colors are FAB! I'm especially drawn to that chrysoberyl. Lovely color!!!

I posted before seeing that glowing blue!!!!!!

Rubellite; Oyo, Nigeria; 12.75ct; taken under flourescent lighting.

The above in its incandescent incarnation.

Mahenge spinels; 5.78 tcw. They are waiting for their ring stone friend.

O M G
I''m having flashes.

All are are gorgeous stones and I loved the demantoid when you first posted a pic. Who sells those amazing blue spinels from Vietnam - I've never seen them for sale anywhere?

Hi Harriet,

Love all your gorgeous new stones, but my favorite is the cobalt blue spinel. The color is amazing and the size may be small compared to the other stones in your collection, but it is huge for that a spinel in that color. I have not seen one for sale over two carats. I would love to have one of those. Under what lighting did you take your picture? Does the color always look like this under different lighting conditions? Have you found a paraiba yet?

Gorgeous colours, I love the cobalt spinel and the demantoid.

Harriet,

That''s a massive overload of gorgeousness for 1 thread. Can each stone possibly have it''s own thread. Such a shame to lump them all together when such quality can each stand on it''s own........

That blue spinel is simply amazing. Please tell us more about it :)

That color! wow! Now I see where the ocean gets its inspiration

Wow! superb examples all. That blue spinel is surely a one off. The best example I have seen any where!

I bet a LOGR could do any of those up really nice.

Your stones are just beautiful. Thank you for sharing them. I went to an exhibit without ever leaving my home!

All beautiful, saturated, open colors, your collection grows ever more impressive. Like everyone else I am especially taken with that electric blue spinel, very unusual and striking!

Not to mention good photography:)

As usual, Harriet, wonderful selections. You l have a fiirst class collection.

Thanks,

Annette

Your photography has improved by leaps and bounds; showing off each stone at their best!

nice size rubelite!

Beautiful stones, and those are great pictures of all of them!

Here''s a table-down shot of the blue spinel, which shows its saturation more accurately. The spinel colour-shifts to purple in incandescent lighting and throws off red flashes from its facet junctions. I''ve tried, but cannot capture the effect.
