New star sapphire ring

I recently bought this loose 2.8 ct. star sapphire. I set it in sterling.
Here are some photos I took along the way. The star is so hard to photograph!

I took a few photos in the sun. Its hard to get that star looking it's best.
DH, the professional photographer, says it's because the cell phone is not a real camera, LOL!
The stone has some silk, but that's OK. I think it adds character.

Wow, that’s just beautiful! Looks Fab-u-lous on. I just love what you did with the setting. It truly does justice to the stone. I agree, a little silk adds great character! A ‘perfect’ stone, while beautiful, can be less individual and thus, less interesting. The striations remind me of windswept horizon lines of an ocean with waves, and the star reflecting through a misty sky into the water. Very moody!

You should do it!
It's so much fun, looking at a loose stone and knowing that you can do anything with it. It's an art and engineering project. You must think about how to hold the stone in, comfort, durability, and good looks.
I often say that jewelry is art that you can wear!
