Delurking to post my first ring! :wavey: After discovering AVCs via PS, I knew I had to have one. I wasn't initially looking to go so warm with the color, especially sight unseen, but I loved the shape and all the pictures Sarah took were beautiful. Stats are: .82 carats, L, SI1, medium fluorescence, 5.41x5.82mm. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/8058/ This is the link to the stone.

I live in Japan, so it's pretty much the opposite of any rings I see here, which I like. Depending on the light, it goes from very warm to very white. I can see the inclusions sometimes, but only if I'm scrutinizing it closely.

I bought the stone loose and Mark Hiroshi Willis very kindly helped me with the setting here in Tokyo: simple platinum solitaire, Japan size 5.5 so I think it's about a US size 3.5? I'm guessing it's about 2mm and tapers a bit toward the stone.

Many thanks to GOG and Mark. My only regret was not waiting until the yen shot up and the dollar dropped before buying the stone! :$$):

:appl: So pretty! Can't believe that is an L...so white!

AVCs are so pretty! It looks stunning on your finger =)

Gorgeous! So classically pretty! And it looks so big on your hand!

You said it's the opposite of what everyone in japan has--out of curiosity, what kind of rings do women in japan typically wear?

It's beautiful!!! Congrats!

Great question!! What is "typical" for japan???

Beautiful

It's very pretty on your hand. I would have never guessed that stone is an L.

Thanks everyone! I can see the warmth the most in our bedroom at night with just the light above and it looks more like a true L. Most of the time it looks more creamy white, and then the fluorescence kicks in in the sun.

Regarding the typical Japanese e-ring, a lot of women don't seem to wear their e-rings everyday, so I don't see them that often. Usually I see just plain or sometimes pavé wedding bands.

That said, I believe that average is 0.2-0.4 carat, high color, high clarity, round brilliants in platinum settings. There's probably more of a love of brands here, too, with maybe Tiffany/Cartier being the most popular. I don't really see fancy cuts here much at all.

same with people in China. they buy the e-ring then just put them away and doesn't wear them... :blackeye:

Thenew,
That stone belonged to me once. It's so exciting to know that it lives in Japan now.
Enjoy it!
