So I thought I had already decided that I would get the Whiteflash 1.5 twc diamond huggies in white gold. Told DH that based on the feedback and all the threads I have read over and over again (yes, that's you DS and blueiris) I feel comfortable getting the 1.5 ct. So DH then chimes in and asks why don't I go for the 2 carat huggies. 2carats? Hmm.... Now I don't know. You know I am turning 56 later this year and my eyesight is not as good as it once was so I wouldn't mind 20 pointers..

From what everyone has posted the 1.5 ct huggies in 18kt gold are comfortable to wear, but are the 2 carat huggies in gold also comfortable, or can I expect a lot more weight? Does anyone have the 2 carat huggies or tried them on who can offer feedback?

I am pretty much in and out of here for the remainder of the summer (lots of road trips)and will probably order them sometime in mid to late August. I appreciate all your help and feedback thus far.

Gosh, tough question. I am about the same age as you, but I seriously don't think I would have wanted the 2 ctw pair even if that had been a choice at the time. I think they'd almost be too dressy for my everyday, very casual attire. I think so much depends on the other jewelry you wear. These are more blingy than plain studs. Thinking off hand, someone like BEM or Bliss who wear 2+ ct. e-rings and other large diamonds might prefer the 2 ctw pair. But mine are approximately the weight of my e-ring, and proportionally, that seems to be a good way to determine a good size. Blueiris does have over 2 ct. e-ring and still preferred the 1.5 ct. huggies for herself.

I don't think the weight difference would be enough to be a factor in making the decision.

Thanks diamondseeker! I don't dress up often anymore and am a jeans type of gal. I do have 2twc diamond studs that I wear for special occasions when I remember to take them out my safe deposit box. But DH keeps asking me if I am sure I want the 1.5 ct and not the 2.0 ct. He keeps asking me if a year later I will regret my decision. Well I did not regret the 1.5ct ering and that would pretty much match up to the 1.5 ct huggies. I still have to sleep on this one. Maybe I want someone to tell me that the 2 ct huggies are heavy and that would convince me to stay with the smaller huggies.

You could do what DS did--order both and try them on to see how you like them. Then keep the one you like best and return the other. IMHO, I prefer the 2ctw huggies since I have long hair and want something blingy to stand out! These 2ctw huggies are definitely on my short list! BTW, fancydiamond has even bigger huggies that are over 3ctw if you want to go even bigger!

Is your husband available for HUSBAND TUTORING????????????? :Up_to_something:

Would they send you one of each to try? I tend to like the smaller huggies more but if you can feel comfortable rocking the larger ones, wouldn't want to discourage you. Best to try it out if possible!

mom2boys, I really think you'd have to have the 2 ct ones because of the size of your rings. And that is true that fancydiamond has really large ones! I can't recall her posting ear shots, though. I will have to go look!

sooocool, I had to look back to see your gorgeous e-ring due to the fact I was in the midst of moving at the time you got it and wasn't on the computer much for a few months! If I figured right, your sidestones are 20 pointers so you can imagine the size of 5 of those on an earring. You can certainly go either way. The size difference won't be that great either way. These are just more blingy than studs which was a factor for me.

LOL! I had to ask him twice to make sure I heard him correctly, especially after I told him that the BG diamond huggies were probably going to be my last purchase. I think he was being nice because we recently sold off some land for considerably more than we ever imagined just because I started a conversation with someone in line at the grocery store who had been interested in real estate in the same area that we had property.

Thank you for the compliment! I have a few weeks to think about it before I order anything and I want this purchase to be an heirloom piece for DD. My sister is pushing for the 2ct huggies because then her DH may just have to follow suit for her birthday.

I am not sure if this is helpful or not, but I have 2.5ctw huggies from IDJ, and they are very comfortable and not heavy at all. They definitely have presence on the ear and are very blingy. I went with a larger size because I have longish hair and I generally do not wear a necklace. I love love love them, and find myself wearing them much more than my studs.

For reference, I have a 2.54 solitaire and an eternity with 15 point stones.

Thanks for your response OneCatOneDog and welcome to PS as a poster! :wavey: I hope you post photos of your bling so we can all see your (I am sure) beautiful collection.

If anyone is still reading this and got their diamond huggies from IDJ, how do you like the clasp? From what I read WF's clasp is well made and easy to close.

I did stop by a Bernir Robbins today and though they did not have any 2 ct huggies, they did have 1ct huggies in 18kt gold for around $2000 and they were G-H SI stones. They had another pair of huggies tw 2 cts but with double row of smaller diamonds (I would say 5 pointers), and they cost about $4000. Stopped at another jeweler who had 1cttw diamond huggies (5 - 10 pointers on each) in 14kt gold
G-H, SI stones for around $1700. (I really did not like the workmanship on these huggies at all. They looked really flimsy)

So I know I would probably be happy with either the 1.5 or 2.0 huggies. But before I pull the trigger and want to find out more about IDJ.

I have the 2ct huggies from IDJ and I think they are perfect. I went with the 2ct because I knew I wouldn't want to upgrade form there.. With 1.5 there would always be that extra 0.5 I could go for..

They are not too heavy for everyday wear. I was a bit nervous that they would be too blingy for everyday but who cares? I wear them with scrubs and I think they are just fine. No one has ever told me it's too much... Just a lot of compliments!

As for the clasp, I think it's just fine. I haven't tried the WF huggies so I can't compare.. The IDJ ones feel very secure and I've never had problems with them.

Thanks sparklyheart. I am beginning to lean towards the IDJ 2 ct huggies in white gold, though I think I will call them and ask for VS melee instead of SI clarity.

We are much alike in that I definitely consider each piece I buy now a future heirloom! If I bought anything from IDJ, I would also upgrade the clarity. I just felt safer with WF since I knew the diamond quality, but I am sure you can get a pretty pair from IDJ, too. I wish I could compare the settings side by side. The sides are pretty open on mine which makes them easier to clean than more closed baskets. But I am not sure I've seen a side view of the IDJ huggies.

The clasp on my IDJ huggies is very secure, I can hear the little click when I close them, and yet it is still easy to open when I take them off. The setting is very solid, and I have the airline setting (rather than a closed basket).

I also have to say that the stones that Yekutiel selected are incredible. They are beyond sparkly and just have incredible life to them. I do not have the paperwork in front of me, but I believe they are F/G SI1.

Now I just need to figure out how to post some pictures . . . . I am technologically challenged!!
