10 week old Mini Australian Shepard. Trying to decide between “Cole” or “Jett” for his name.
Omg I’m so in love.

Hey wait a minute.
I demand to see his GIA report.
I want to know whether the color origin of that gorgeous Fancy Intense Grayish Blue eye is natural, or treated.
If treated, you should hurry up and get the left eye treated too while he's still a puppy while the surgery involves fewer complications.

Beautiful puppy. :kiss2:

Does he get along with your lovebird? (Sorry I forgot the name)
Is the birdie displaying dominant behavior over this new flock member?
Bibi immediately showed Kizzy and Yaya who was the Alpha Dog!

What an amazing day. We just picked Cole up in PA. 2 more hours to get home and introduce him to B-Dog.
B-Dog has pretty much complete run of the main floor of our house. He’s got full flight feathers. Flies around all day ( when we’re home. He’s caged when no one is home)
I fully expect him to show the new puppy who’s boss:)

Well, if B-Dog the lovebird is dominant then you should change his name to ... A-Dog, for Alpha Dog.
Then change Cole's name to B-Dog.

Oh my! So adorable...

Pfft, I shall secretly call him Odie on account of that magic eye.
He's adorable as all get out.

Congratulations! He is beautiful and I’m sure he will keep you on your toes. Smart, those Aussies!

How big do you think he’ll be?

His mom is about 30 pounds. Nice “in between” size. Not a toy, but not full size

What a sweet face, and I love the blue/brown eye combo. Adorable!

Tres Adorbs! Love the name Cole too. Congratulations Rockdiamond family on your new family addition!

Thank you so much everyone!
I had a dog as a boy- but adult life never jibed with dog ownership…. Till now.
We are so in love with the little guy. A lot to learn about training and other puppy stuff
The whole family is in deep love:)
B-dog? He’s like … yawn. Can that fluffy thing fly??

He's beautiful. Please keep us posted on his growth and personality. Puppies can be so much fun, and of course, as he grows, you'll be more and more in love.

Beautiful. He looks so. big to me! My puppy is currently 4 monrhs old and weighs 3.5 lbs. Lol. Puppies are such hard work. I swear mine doesn't even know his name yet (Bear).

He's precious! Don't forget to nap when he naps - they can be exhausting! :kiss2:

HI:

SO CUTE! I see this breed on the paths when we are cycling--and they always turn my head in cuteness overload!

More pics please!

cheers--Sharon

Cole is itching a lot and now it seems he may have fleas
Learning about veterinary care. Wow.
There’s a local place. I made an appointment. You know how you get a “feeling “ about a place from a phone call?
This call wasn’t positive. But I made the appointment.
You have to pay in advance- apparently that’s customary

Then I remembered a good friend used to work there.
“Do not take your puppy there under any circumstances!!!”
Horror stories abound.
For one thing, you’re not allowed into the exam room while they check out the pup.
He recommended a much better place- about 30 minutes north of NYC
The phone call was infinitely more positive. We discussed the details and it’s likely he’s got fleas.
The Vet didn’t have an appointment till Monday, so we’re going to a highly recommended VET er.

Long story long…. Our goal was to adopt. As it turns out, NYState outlawed “Puppy Mills”
Pet stores can no longer sell puppies or kittens.
Consequently, adopting a puppy in NY has become very difficult.
So we went to Connecticut, a puppy and kitten store.
That’s where we saw a a Mini Aussie.
I didn’t feel right with buying the pup…
Online research led me to a breeder. The pics are taken in the grass. The doggies look so … pastoral.
The reality is/ it is a farm. Out in the country.
But the dogs are kept in kennels with cement floors.
It wasn’t “soft and cuddly” by any means. But the dogs were very nice.
Anyway - I’m the way home to head up to the Vet ER
I’ll keep you guys posted

Oh, FYI - you cannot escape the vet without it costing a minimum of $300! :roll2:

We never got pet insurance, but you might want to consider it.

So cute - you should call him Bowie, since they both have different coloured iris.

Bear is an itchy puppy too, We're not sure why because he had flea treatment at last month's vet appt. then advantix this month. It's a really bad flea and tick year!

How could you not be in love, he’s adorable @Rockdiamond!!! Aussie’s are such sweet lovable dogs.

@lyra, Is Bear your avatar picture? That face!!!!

Update- the Vet ER docs were wonderful. No apparent infestation… they gave an oral anti flea treatment for good measure and advised longer term solutions from our regular Vet … see them Monday.
Meantime ears are endangered in our house. Puppies live to lick and nibble on ears…. What a joy:)

If the itching continues you might want to consider seeing a veterinarian dermatologist. They are highly qualified and will figure out out. As Shiny Pink wrote it is not inexpensive but it is worth it. They are trained specifically in dermatological diseases than general vets can miss. We had to bring Gracie to one (luckily not too far away) and she was wonderful. Turns out Gracie has a very rare dermatological disease and none of our other veterinarians were able to correctly diagnose her. Very grateful to this derm.

Good luck with Cole. Hoping it is nothing to be concerned about and that he is A OK

So adorable! Wishing you many "fun" years with your new little one!

My Mom used to own an Aussie...great dog!
