Thanks everyone!

I have emailed Mark with my preferences, and am now waiting for him to get back to me about scheduling. Keeping my fingers crossed that I''ve snuck in!!

As he''s developing a matching ''buttercup'' e-ring and wedding band, I''m waiting for him to let me know if he reckons I should have diamonds in the e-ring shank as well. Marriahlyn pointed out a good reason to have diamonds in both bands - repolishing will be costly (to send to and fro australia and US.), plus I''ll be stressing about losing my rings in the mail.

I suppose I''m just unsure if I will like wearing 6mm+ on my finger, and also because I want the center stone to ''pop''.

dbgaap, half eternity because I don''t know how comfortable full eternity with that size stones would be. I only have a teeny eternity band, and it''s comfy, but I think I wouldn''t like it any bigger. I might consider having a euro shank so it doesn''t spin. I''ll see what Mark thinks!

caracol - no that''s not my puppy, but I wish he was! I will be getting a spoodle once my new house is built and I have space for one!

I''m a little late on this topic, but I wanted to mention that I absolutely LOVE my MWM e-ring. I''ve had it for about 2 months now, and couldn''t be happier. I''m now working on the wedding band, and can''t decide if I should have Mark make the matching band (with little diamonds), or just go for plain. I''m leaning towards diamonds

I also wanted to mentioned that I love the 6-prong look on my ring. Remember that the pictures really magnify everything...but in person, Mark''s work is so very delicate.

Hi!

The matching diamond band will look divine with your ring!

I am waiting for work on whether Mark can take my project on - the last time I heard from his assistant was Fri evening (massachusetts time).

The diamond band I am looking at is prong set, not channel set though. I don't think he has a picture of it on his website yet, because it is not completed yet (i think!!).

Congratulations on your engagement, and your MWM ring!

ETA: Will a band sit flush with your ring?

Ok Gypsy has added another dilemma to the mix

Ok I finally got off my a** and got up early enough to ring Mark in Massachusetts this morning, and had a wonderful chat with him - he is so nice to speak to!

He is going to take on my project as a work in progress, because I don''t really have a ''deadline'' per se, and he can work on getting his existing projects done and developing the matching set for the diamond band. We did float around a timeframe of Oct though.

I decided to leave myself in his capable hands after deciding that I want a matched set with diamonds in both rings. I came to that decision after thinking about having to repolish the solitaire if I went for a solitaire, and also because I tried on some rings that were a total of 7mm on my finger and I quite like the blingy look.

He said he really liked my ideas in my initial email to him, so he is definitely going to work on a matching e-ring to the diamond band regardless, so I''m really excited to see what he comes up with. I told him I want to be the first person to have this set of these rings

and he said that won''t be a problem

On the search for a center stone - no news yet, but I''m not fussed because we have heaps of time!

Now I just have to be patient!

that''s so exciting JL- your own work of art.
Can''t wait to see the work in progress.

Now- get cracking on that center stone

Okay so... five prongs? Straight band? Diamonds in both rings. Buttercup-ish? Is that the final decision?
33.gif

As for the center... have you decided to stay at 8mm or are you going bigger now that the total ring widths are going to be 7mm?

CONGRATS ON MARK AGREEING ON THE PROJECT!

It''s going to be stunning.

yay jade i love your patience in wanting to ensure that everything is just right!!!

keep us posted on the center stone, yum....oh i can''t wait til october!

Thks nan, gypsy and mara!

The center stone is going to be at least 8.7mm, maybe 9mm

. I''ve given GOG pretty loose specs with regards to budget, so it all depends on what is available. Jon & Tim knows that I am prone to changing my mind and upping the budget when it comes to a stone I like (Hee hee my emerald cut search turned from 1 carat to 2carat if I remember correctly, so the budget pretty much doubled). I want this stone to be my forever stone, so we''re flexible with the budget to an extent.

The only thing I specified was I want it to be larger than 2.5ct, and I am willing to go a little lower in color this time, and hey if they can find a really eyeclean Si2, then why not?

Mara is getting into my head
41.gif

Ok at the moment, here''s what I''ve decided:

Diamonds in both bands
Prongs - leave it up to Mark
Bands will sit pretty flush, so yeah, straight bands
Buttercup-ish .. sort of, but I''ll see what Mark comes up with, but definitely heart prongs!

It will be so hard trying to be patient! Luckily I have heaps of other stuff to focus on at the moment - baby, new house, getting my business in order so I can take time off when I give birth...

I will update when I find a center stone!

xoxo

Oh baby. Can''t wait to see this sucker! It''s gonna be beautiful!

Everything else al right with you? How is your back doing now?

Yes I''m feeling great, back is not as sore now (got a massage last friday). Only complaint is the heartburn!

How''s everything with you, gypsy? I''m catching up with threads I missed on the wkend - getting to yours soon!

(I have a thread?? Seriously... I don''t have any thread that was of any import AT ALL, so no worries.)

I''m glad the back is better, as for the heartburn. Yuck. I''m sorry.

I''m doing alright. Been job hunting... which is going better. Volunteering at the shelter. Helping DF with his work-- which is great fun for me. And spending time with a good freind. I''ve gotten my whole house (except for the office) cleaned-- spring cleaned. All the winter clothes stored for the summer, all the closets and shelves re-organized and all of the junk we''d accumulated tossed, donated or earmarked for a garage sale. Haven''t been working on the book much... mostly because my evenings are spent helping FI with his clients and well... on PS..lol. But life is good. And, hopefully, getting even better.

How is the house?

Yay Jade, i''m so glad Mark it taking your project. I''m sure the time will fly by and I too can''t wait for Oct..

Oh Jade, that is so exciting, can''t wait for pics. I''m sure you will find an amazing center stone. I adore Mark''s work, your set will be gorgeous!! I had heartburn too, with my first. No fun!!!

I''m sure when you''re feeling inspired it''ll be hard to tear yourself from the book!

Take it easy with the job hunt - something right will come up!

We''re at color selection stage and picking out finishes and stuff at the moment. This house thing is taking so long, but we''ve got too much time and effort invested in it to pull out now. The darn building hasn''t even STARTED yet! It''ll be another 8 to 9 months before it''s completed.

Mylanta (antacids) is my best friend now!

I''ll try and update this thread when I get pics from Mark!

Inspired. My friend, the one I mentioned before, inspires me .. spent a significant amount of time with her this weekend and things have been percolating. Her relationship is at it''s start-- they are a year in and things are still very... uncertain... but GOOD uncertain... butterflies in the stomach uncertain (not bad, they are very much in love) and things are progressing much more conventionally for them that they did for us... which makes me well, think of things that I haven''t before in relation to my book and the relationships in it. Plus, as it''s chick lit... female friendships are so key... and well, we have a nice one ourselves so... like I said... it inspires me. Thanks for the encouragement.

9 months! I haven''t seen any pics or any plans of yours... have you posted anything that I''ve missed-- or are you just not comfortable with that (which I can fully appreciate). Color selection and finishes sounds like a fun stage to be at though. Although, perhaps not with everything else that''s going on right now? Is your DH hands on or hands off about the details?

Heh Nan!

I saw that one, but I''m not sure about K.

I think without viewing the stone myself, ''I'' would be the lowest I''ll go.

I need Jon to eyeball the stone for me!

The clarity pics for that stone is a little iffy - the inclusion smack in the middle will bother me I think.

I so wish I have your email!

No I didn''t post any pics or plans of the house. I''ll do that when the house is ready! Hubby is pretty hands on with the house stuff, so I leave most of the more ''technical'' aspects to him. He''s having fun designing the automation bits for all the electrical bits.

might be worth checking- mmmmmm medium flour!

I just noticed the medium fluor!

HMMMMMM...

I know these old eyes of mine couldn''t detect that inclusion. It looks so tiny

So late to this thread but I am so excited for your new project! I know it will be stunning. Good luck finding the center stone.

It didn''t score very well on the HCA though.

My problem is I haven''t seen many stones with fluor, and don''t know if I''ll like it. *sigh*

Ditto on the email. Would be GREAT.

I''ll have to sit tight and wait till the house is done then! It''s nice that hubby is hands on! Designing automation bits, huh? I''m very impressed. Mine is hands on... but he gets in my hair at times... doesn''t always stick to the proper male parts of things and just when I''ve decided on how I want something right down to the trim on the duvet he comes in and says things like, "blue?... does it have to be blue?" So I have to run about the house trying to wrap a cord around his neck. I don''t squeeze though.

Much.

you''re right. seems a bit deep.

yeah while that stone is a great price, it''s a little deep and it''s got leakage around the table .... not my kinda stone. unfortunately!! it''s a sweet size and the price is yum!

Ok here''s another dilemma:

Do I get GOG to focus exclusively on AGS certed stones with the new AGS DQD, or search for specs that would be both AGS & GIA ideal cuts and not worry about whether the cert is from GIA or AGS?

Or if the stone ends up having a GIA cert, should I get it recerted with AGS? I think I will be happier with the amount of information found on the AGS DQD, and it will probably be better for insurance purposes as well?

Thoughts?
