Hello, I''m new to this forum. We''re getting engaged soon and I have no clue about diamonds. We really only have 2500-3000 to spend and I was hoping you wonderful people could find some nice rings for us!

I like white gold, square cut diamonds, but the only thing I know I absolutely love is an intricate band. Is there anything out there in our range?

Also, we were looking at this ad: http://dallas.craigslist.org/jwl/483944538.html

is that a good deal or do we need more information? I really don''t mind a used ring, I just want to get something nice for the money.

Welcome!

Firstly do you have a preference in square shapes? Which do you love out of Princess, Radiant, Emerald Cut, or Asscher for the main square shapes? There are also some other lesser known squares such as the Jubilee etc. But if you could let us know which shapes you like, we can help from there. Also is your budget for the whole ring or just the diamond?

Are you sure you want a diamond? You could afford a very nice blue sapphire for this price- as well as a good to very good handmade ring. Princess D. had a sapphire engagement ring- this was used for centuries before DeBeers diamond marketing strategy and the rise fo the US jewelry industry.

Food for thought.

I like the diamond and setting that Skippy posted. The ring listed on Craigslist seems like a good deal, but you may not be getting exactly what you think your are paying for.

Ditto. Plus with WF you would have the option to upgrade at a later time if you chose to.
