Hi guys, not new to internet forums but just beginning to learn about diamonds. Hope to learn alot from you guys. I've been reading various past threads on topics I'm curious about, but I also learn from asking questions so I'm hoping you'll put up with a few NooB questions from me and won't mind repeating some of your wisdom again so I can be a part of the conversation.

I'm interested in buying an ideal cut round for investment purposes. In person, the only ideal cut diamonds I've ever looked at were LK stones and they were incredible. From reading threads here it looks like I can get a diamond with the same quality and sparkle for less. Some guys here like WhiteFlash, but that's also another name brand diamond, so I'm assuming while it may be cheaper than a LK, it's probably still more expensive that a no-brand stone. But I also don't mind paying a little for a name brand if it helps the investment or helps sell the stone down the road.

Can you point me to what you would purchase in my shoes and which online store you would purchase it from? I pretty much know what specs to look for, so I don't need that type of advice so much, more which brand to look at (or no brand) and where to buy it at the best price.

Thanks!

Unless you are buying a very big flawless diamond, a diamond is a poor investment.

I get that, and that's often true of other assets I like to diversity with. But I like to diversify with things that interest me and I can learn about, so there's still value there for me. Don't worry too much about the investment aspect, help me make a sound purchase. Whiteflash, no-name stones, and help me understand if LK is a reasonable way to go and how to compare other stones to theirs, considering I can't find an online shop that sells them. Thank you

No difference if both stone are cut to the same specs.

OK. I have read that brand names like Whiteflash and LK can help with the 'investment' down the road when the diamond is to be sold, so does it make sense then to pay a little more for the name? If so, how much more? And where the heck can I buy LK stones online?

I think I already covered that. What I do need help with is the question: LK vs other brand name (Whiteflash) vs no brand name. What would you do? And do you guys know of any place online to buy LK stones at good prices? Thanks

I wouldn't pay the LK premium.

Diamonds don't hold their value in a resale market. It's just a matter of fact. Unlike a car, you can resell a stone in the same pristine condition as it was purchased but you will never get your money back out of it. The only way we've ever seen this happen is when the market prices go way up and people might have purchased stones on a downward swing. Prices are not on a downward swing now. Doesn't matter if it's branded or not - particularly if the buyer is not familiar with any of this which most aren't. Buy for your own enjoyment and find other vehicles for investment purposes.
