Hello everyone!

I was researching for diamond and came across this website. I have been reading for 4 days straight and have learned enormously thanks to everyone here.

I am currently looking to get a diamond for engagement.

My budget is around $5500 for the diamond. Carat anywhere between 0.8-1. Would like a eye-clean sparkle diamond.

Here is the one I have located that seems to match what I am looking for, I am hoping to get some advice on whether I should change what I am looking for or there is something better to be had for same price range.

Thank you all in advance, this is a great community!

If you want bigger, go down in color as far as H.

I ran the HCA tool (https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca) and the JA stone scores a 1.4 total HCA score, with Excellents in Light Return, Fire, and Spread; and a Very Good in Scintillation. The HCA tool is an elimination tool, basically, and a diamond with a total score below 2 means you have eliminated known poor performers.

I also ran the AGA Cut Class tool (https://www.pricescope.com/tools/AGA_NAJA_Cut_Class_Grader), and the JA stone scores a 1A total score (with 1As in all categories but crown height receiving a 1B).

I think this JA stone is a lovely stone and likely to be an excellent performer. I checked the WhiteFlash and Brian Gavin Diamond websites and, for your $5,500 budget, the only signature stones I found were less carat weight/smaller face-up size and lower color/lower clarity... Honestly, I think you should put this stone on hold with JA and request an IdealScope.

Hi ericc280! I really love the stone you picked out and couldn't find any that were better. I would put it on hold ASAP!! The only one I found was a 1.0 carat H/SI1 (would have to make sure it's eye clean) measuring 6.46 x 6.39 (a noticable difference in size I think, but not a lot) with HCA 0.6 for $5520.

I would still go with the one you listed though.

Are you firm on your $5500 budget, OP?

Thank you marymm & msop04 for the feedback.

Yes, unfortunately I am tight on budget so $5500 for the diamond is my top budget as now.

I have placed on hold the diamond and will look for 2 more for JA to request an idealscope.

How are you going to set it? If you are going to halo it I'd stick to your original stone.

Hi Gypsy,

I am thinking of something that is simple and elegant. I am leaning towards solitare at the moment but I am open to any advice.

Thanks.
